About 2 years ago someone abandoned a cat and she found her way into my backyard. I felt sorry for her and fed and watered her and she has been back there ever since. I already had a couple of pets in my home and really didn't want anymore. She is very sweet and talkative and endearing. I simply cannot leave her out there anymore nor do I want to chance calling animal control and having her put down so I've decided to bring her to a Vet and have her examined so as not to put my current pets in jeopardy and bring her in.

I would like you guys to help give her a unique name to reflect her poor misfortune of being abandoned and now finding a home.

I can think of ordinary names but want something unique and easy to say and for her to respond to. I've been calling her Cat but feel she deserves more then that.

Cosette....the little girl from the book Les Miserables who was abused and neglected before being rescued and spoiled rotten. :)

I ask the cat what name it would like to be known by, and then start tossing out names. If the cat responds to one I put that name on a list until I have a few, and then go over those names again. It's as good a method as any, and it has the added fun of getting the cat involved.

Hmm, well, why not think of someone that was in a similar situation, and name it after them. Is it male of female? Alternatively, you could pick a word that would describe it's life beforehand (which would help with reflecting the misfortune that it must have had). For example: strife. Or, you could name it after a quality that it must possess to have endured through all of that. E.g.: courage, valour, etc.
Well, I hope that this helps!
If possible, please let me know what you decide to name it! I'm sure that it'll have a happy life with you, and I hope that everything goes well for you both!

I'm going for the suggestions of "Lucky" and "Annie". Personally I like "Molly" - but it's not a unique name. I have an abandonned cat who adopted me, her name is "Cuddles" for obvious reasons. Most affectionate cat I've ever seen! Won't leave me alone!! lol
Maybe I should've called her "Shadow"!

Good for you for taking her in!

I do have a name idea, however it doesn't reflect her unfortunate arrival to your home. Being the railroad buff I am, I think the name
"Chessie" would be right for her. She could be named after the official mascot of the Chesapeake & Ohio railroad. If I ever get myself a female cat, I would very likely give her that name. That's just my two cents worth.

I love Cosette!

I am about to bring a 15 yr. old cat into my home. He has been abandoned at a boading facility. He is a white, fluffy cat with one green eye and one blue eye. He is called "Boy" -- don't know why that is. I am thinking of naming him Alexander and calling him Zandy for short.

maybe Happi, but Mira sounded really nice too. Shiara is also a pretty name. you could also call her Angeline or Angel because she seems so nice and is an Angel.
