I for one am not in favor of retaining any History at all.

If you'd prefer it my way do this. These instructions are for IE7 but you should be able to follow the gist of these on IE6 also. IE will purge the History when you close it as you log off the web.

With Internet Explorer open, click on Tools and then Internet Options. In the section titled Browsing History look for the little box that says Days to Keep Pages in History. Change this to what ever number of days your prefer. I set mine to 0 (zero).

Control Panel -> Internet options. Under the general tab, click clear history. Also i advise to clear cookies and temporary interent files sice spyware at times find themselves there. If that doesnt work. Go to C -> Windows -> History folder and delete all d contents manually. Laterz

You mean, whenever you type in a web address in the address bar, the names of the past websites you may have visited appear below it?

Using Internet Explorer:
Go to tools> Internet Options.
In the middle of the window, you should see --temporary internet files-- click on two buttons:
"delete files", and "delete cookies".

And just for the heck of it, click "Clear History", which should be right below.
