They are a hunting/water dog so they have more oils on their skin and fur than a chihuahua does. Bathing them that often may be making them produce more oils in an attempt to ward off itchy, dry skin. Try cutting down the bathing to once a week or every other week and use scented pet wipes (I like the Groomax Spa petwipes from PetSmart) in between to surface clean and provide a nice smell. They also sell the Spa shampoos too.
The smell could also be coming from a skin infection, or the dog is old. The vet would have to diagnose a skin infection. I know my old dog has a slight odor even right after we bathe him. It's not anything we can do though.

Are you cleaning their ears?
Is the shampoo you are using specifically made for dogs? Human shampoo or body soap is not what you want to use ...
Labs have a film of oil in their coats to help make them waterproof, so that might be what you are smelling if it's not their ears ... floppy ears tend to retain moisture and make for some funky smells!
I flop my dogs' ears "back," to help them air out ... also, you can swab them out with a mixture of peroxide/water/alcohol/vinegar (25% each) poured onto a papertowel ... stuff a couple fingers (wrapped in the wet papetowel) in the CUP of their ear and rub the grunge out.
Do no go tooo deep and do not use a cottonball -- that can fall down in there!

Male dogs don't tend to smell as much as females (in my experience) it may have to do with the way they pee. I haven't found anything yet that actually removes the smell other than bathing.

Do you use a hair dryer on them after their bath? One of nature's bad smells is wet dog. They will still smell bad if they air dry.

Three times a week is not that great for their skin. Have you asked your vet? Allergies, thyroid problems, ear infections (which labs and goldens are prone to), bacterial infections in the skin can all cause body odor. Please talk about this with your vet.

My only advice is their food. If their food has a lot of fillers in it, it may cause the dogs to smell bad.
