Physically, during sex the body feels less pain. That being said, the answer is both biological and psychological. Domation and submission are biolgically central to the sexual act, but the degree to which the fantasies involving them are played out depend largely on the sexual tastes and drives of the individuals involved. I note that it is NOT always the case that the male assumes the dominant role, and you might be suprised how many men fantasize about being the submissive and vunlerable participant during sex.

Woe! go back to cave man days... maybe not whatever happened to two people sharing real passion slow and, connected, soul stirring love making, i tell you the rough, and, thrashing about sex has no real soul connecting factors unless the woman/man requires it, animal behavior in sex does not make it better sex, you only end up bruised, or lose some hair at the end of it.

A little bit of biting and tugging is nice. But nothing to the extent of discomfort and pain for me.

The only time I have experienced it was at the request of my female partner. She would say things like....a little harder or faster or "I won't break." The latter was uttered most by the most women in my experience. When these things occurred or words spoken in husky tones I obliged slowly until they responded with pleasurable replies. Always please your partner and she will please you.

I like rough sex because it's exciting, a workout, it's a turn on. Don't get me wrong, I love to make love, but the thought of pain, pain that brings pleasure, not the whips and chains variety, is just mind blowing to me. I like to be grabbed, smacked on the ***, biting, sucking, pulling, all of that is exciting to me.....Excuse me, I have to go upstairs to see him now. All this talk has gotten me heated up...
