The answer is that insanity is relative, it can be a realm of conjecture based on theory or moral, religious structures. For instance you could not apply the same conditions of so called mental illness on those in a culture that varies from the one you are in. There are only a couple of true mental illnesses, and the answer to your question is no the person with these types of mental defects don't know that they are crazy. The illusion that persons have so many personal defects is based on the assumption that we all should believe in the same things and have encountered all the same situations and therefore sense and feel in a like manner, it is also important to realize that millions of people believe in things and imaginings that cannot be proved or regarded as truth, myth's, dogma's! This is a realm of reasoning that could be considered delusional, even to the point of psychotic if it induces some one to act on these imagined perspectives. Good luck with this question I'm very sure you will receive some very unusual answers.

Let me start by just letting you know we don't day crazy people. In these days of being politically correct people suffer certain disorders. They can have a disorder that is for life same as diabetes, & other medical diseases. And yes, very much do these people know when they have & exactly what kind of disorder they suffer from. They good thing is now, as compared to 20 yrs ago, there is so much better medications for every disorder. Also these medications have little to no side effects as the old ones did, so patients don't mind keeping up with their medications. The biggest problem years ago was patients did not like the side effects & just stop taking their medications. Well this led to a lot of relapse behaviors so the pyschological units were like revolving doors to patients. Now if you would of asked about all the different mental disorders &mental psychosis I would of happily explained each one, by onset of symptoms, types of problems in your life, and so forth, then told you about the many fasinating disorders & psychosis mental patients can suffer from. Just next time out of respect please use the phrase mental disorder in referring to patients that do suffer with these disorders.*****Nellers*****

ok, i can answer this one ( pick me! pick me! pick me!) I have aspergers syndrom. you see me in wal-mart, and you see thta I am pointing to something. you look, and i am pointing to a stuffed teddy bear. My baby ( she is three but I call her the baby because she is the youngest kid of three I have) who has a speech problem ( can we say the blind leading the blind?) is all excited to see the bear and wants it. We get the bear. You think " they are crazy" but the reality is, we are both communicating in a way that suits us. See my point? ok, to answer the question: Crazy ppl dont know they are crazy, they think everyone else is crazy, because their view of stuff is warped ,because of their craziness.

If you have issues and you know it then you are not crazy. Crazy is when you are totally out of reality. Like schizophrenics etc.

"Crazy - Gnarls Barkley
I remember when, I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that phase.
Even your emotions had an echo
In so much space
And when you're out there
Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Does that make me crazy
Probably
And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice
Come on now, who do you, who do you, who do you, who do you think you are,
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control
Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me
My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them
Ever since I was little, ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done
Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
Probably"
Hope that you are having the time of your life! :-)

I hope this answers you question. It’s taken from Shakespeare.
“ A wise man knows himself to be a fool while a fool believes himself wise ”
If you think your crazy, chances are, your not.
