I am just wanting to know everyones thoughts on this matter. I myself do believe that there is A higher being, but I cannot believe in the Christian God. First off, I cannot have faith in something that cannot be shown to me. I was raised a Christian all my life. After many years of bible, prayer, church, and misc opions, I could not feel it. To many contradictions to list. Second, if someone was to say they are the son of God or say they were visited by an angel like they were in biblical time, they would be locked up and sedated. How do we know Christ was either real or the Son of God? Third, the bible was not written by God or Christ, it was written by man. Even better, it was pieced together by man, and man(church) has decided to allow some texts and banned others(fact). Again, if I find or write a text about a religious experience, off to the Mental Hospital. Thats the short version of my reasons. What do you think?

Good start on the thinking. Keep at it. Here's what I've put together:
First, you have to define the term "God." The problem with most theists is that this term is a moving target.
In addition, because there is no evidence either for or against the existence of God, you cannot use deductive logic (a+b=c; therefore c-b=a). You can only reach a conclusion by inductive reasoning using the balance of evidence (90% of A is also B; C is B, so the chances are 90% that C is also A).
I will assert (and others may shoot this down) that the only RELEVANT definition of God states that he intervenes to circumvent natural laws.
If God circumvents natural laws, then it is impossible to understand natural laws. All scientific findings would have to include the stipulation, "it is also possible that these results are an act of God, a miracle, thereby making our research meaningless."
However, since we have been able to expand our knowledge of natural laws (evidenced by every appliance in your kitchen), the scientific method works in this discovery. And the likely conclusion is that God, at least the intervening kind, does not exist.
Additionally, if God is defined as all loving, all powerful, and all knowing, then it is impossible to explain suffering. Either God is not all loving (he acts sadistically), not all powerful (he cannot prevent suffering), or not all knowing (he created suffering by mistake because he didn't know the consequences of his actions).
If God is less than these and/or does not intervene in our existence, then he is either non-existent or irrelevant. The classic argument is that I cannot prove that a china teapot is orbiting the sun directly across from the earth's orbit. But while I cannot prove this is not true, the evidence against it is compelling.
The evidence against God is equally compelling, and while it is not possible to prove beyond any doubt, it makes more sense to live your life as if there were not God.
It is more compelling to me that humans have invented God to reflect the thoughts of the ruling powers in a particular time. Because humans are always looking for reasons, when none are found, it was the natural inclination to declare the cause to be "God" (or gods). As the faith grew, miracles and laws have been ascribed to this Divinity, and an orthodoxy grows up around it.
Successful religions over the long run also are accompanied by some level of economic well-being to the populace. Unsuccessful ones are seen as false because they don't lead to improved lives.
Now it seems unhelpful to believe in such superstition. The only matters that aid in our ongoing well being are work, location, health, sustenance, and pure, blind luck.
So no, I don't believe God exists. And you know what? It's okay if you do believe God exists.

I believe in god and always will!! Even though i might not be considered as a true Christian i still pray, I know the real reason of Christmas and Easter, and i still follow the 10 commandments the best that i can, I don't go to church and I rarely read the bible because i know that somethings in there are false but i still follow god with all my heart and i love him with my heart and soul!!! As for People dying horrible ways and baby's living on the streets i believe that when we were all in heaven (before we came to earth) we chose our paths, God does not, we chose all our ups and downs, every single detail, god knows what we do so if a child dies in a year it was their decision not His they needed to learn a lesson in life and they did what they came for, My Belifes!!!

I do not believe in god. I do however believe in something higher than us all. I'm not going to believe something humans wrote with their own hands and worship it all day. it's rediculous. Sometime before my life ends i will write a really long book about how i'm so loving and great at Playing computer games, then in a few thousand years, i will be "God".

Look on my blog and read my true Ghost story that occurred several years ago. I believe in God the Almighty and I believe in Ghostly spirits as being friendly, but to no avail I cannot preach on something I have nothing of any knowledge about...only that it happened to me and I am as normal as they come.
It my personally affliction of the event that occured that day in my home will never be forgotten and if it happens to you then you will belive it otherwise people tend to to disregard Ghost and spirits as phenomenal junk or Mentally Insane/Incomepetent to which I am not..

Nope. I KNOW there's a God.
As for your doubts, have you ever read The Case for a Creator or The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel? Those are excellent books. So is Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell. Those may help you. They helped me.

I believe in God but God is not who or how most people conceive. Just because there are dysfunctions in the various religions does not mean there is not something good to take from them. Take what is useful, true, and good, and then simply leave the rest.

I do not. I believe in my own beliefes...nothing. Simply i cant explain our existance but I believe we die because of our organs rotting and body systems breaking down. We have no soul and dont go anywhere when we are dead. You disapear when you are dead. Dont feel anything or know anything. Think About Life now.
Glad to help.

The reason for you to be alive is your parents and the reason that your parents are existing is there parents then there must be a supreme being who is the reason for all this life without being created since He is the creator.
