Well, At twenty-eight years old I would think he could be able to understand. It isn't like he is neccessarily a little child anymore, but if you really want to talk to him about it then just tell him the truth. Tell him that very mean people who didn't like the U.S. thought that to show they didn't like us, they would run a plane into a building full of people. But that isn't okay and no one in the U.S. thought so either, so we went to their country and had a little chat with them. And that we're trying to get the bad people who once ruled the country out of their position and we're trying to be peaceful.
Excuse me for saying, but I'm just stating my opinion, he may be your child, but you shouldn't refer to him like he's 5 years old. "He's only 28..."? My parents say that to my little sister when she gets in trouble. "Well she's ONLY 6" and at times it makes me angry, but then at others I understand. But not for a 28 year old. Maybe he has been in their along time, so he has the.... thinking ability? Of a young person. But give him some credit, he's been here a while. If he's staying with someone, he should support, even if he just got out. He needs to find a job, and he needs to help pay for the rent and food and other neccesities. Then, in a little while he needs to look for an apartment or house, even if he needs to share it with a friend. If he always gets in trouble, then you should call him alot and make surprise visits, not to be mean, just to be a mom. But don't be so high strung about him. Let him live his life.

How can you talk about 2nd WW to your child? It was also scary. Talk in the same way.
By the way he is 28 y.o., he must understand. I know many primary school kids, they understand the 9-11 phenomenon without any confusion.

Oh, please....give me a break here. You were the one who probably ruined him. Stop being an enabler, Mommy Dearest. He's a big boy..let him figure it out. He must not care that much about mankind if he was in prison! Back off and take care of your own problems! DIH!

I guess 28 is a good age that he starts reasoning himself. He might even be more impartial than Bushyboy and Flames.
