Tell Hollywood to stop showing them in that light and people will stop adopting such a view. There are lots of people that are considered stupid and they're not blondes.

I have no idea but it's completely contradictory because the classic "blonde bimbo" usually has completely bleached blonde hair. What does that tell you about the colour of their roots?

I'm a natural blonde myself, I have an English degree and I went straight to the top in my career immediately as my very first job after leaving college was as editor of a magazine. This sounds really stuck up and I'm not that kind of person at all, but I can't be the only blondie out there who completely invalidates this ridiculous stereotype.

I doubt very much that the person who came up with such a stupid concept in the first place was a blonde... I rest my case.

Most of the people we consider dumb blondes are actually brunettes who have dyed their hair. Yet brunettes are considered deep and mysterious. Hello, they're the same person!

People like Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson (much as I love them) put on a dumb blonde act because it's funny and looks good on camera. If Paris hadn't been a bit stupid in the Simple Life, it wouldn't have been funny and nobody would have watched it. They were just working the cameras, but it gives blondes a bad name. Also, in movies, such as the blonde women are usually only fussed about their hair and nails! In Friends, Monica (brunette) is smart, sensible and with a good job. Pheobe is a terrible street musician who thinks she's great, and always misunderstands what people say.

While they're just acts, they affect our opinions on people. I know stupid people, smart people, and people in between. Some are blonde, some brunette, and every other colour you can imagine. It's just like any other stereotype - not to be taken too seriously.

Welcome to an other media caused problem. Shows like "Three's Company" and "Wheel of Fortune" show pretty young blond women as objects to look at but not worth talking to. Both are incorrect. Take the original Krissy from "Three's Company", Ms. Suzanne Summers with multiple PH D's and Masters degrees. She was the Head of the American brain trust for years. The Blond on the Wheel, Vanna is also a college graduate. They take these parts and act so well at them no one realises they are just acting.

I suppose it's no more than prejudise, but sometimes it's because blondes, who are not that stupid, start acting stupid as if to fit people's expectations( like''I'm blonde and they think blondes are stupid so I have to look stupid too'')

the reason people think it is because in some peoples eyes blonde hair represents a child like image. lots of children who grow up to be darker haired start of as blondes. child represents innocence and naievety and people associate the blonde with the same child like qualities.

the only reason people say that blondes are stupid is that they are jealous!

My mother's argument was that it was because it is stupid to ruin your hair by bleaching it. But that was in the 50s and 60s, when the technology of hair coloring was pretty primitive.

Marylin Monroe and the likes invented bimbo's and were considered to be every mans dream , as they are no longer with us and bimbo's are not considered the stuff of dreams , the image remains but is not considered attractive therefore it is subject to derision .
