BBQ, margaritas, big salad, watermelon
Most people from other countries seem to love beef which we take for granted and I try to avoid.

Well, and I'm sure others will say the same thing before I'm even done typing this, there really is no set American food. I think there are "American-ized" dishes, like fried chicken and jambalaya, but for the most part, everything came to this country from somewhere else. In a pinch, I suppose I would make a Thanksgiving dinner: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish, candied yams, gizzard gravy (it's better than it sounds), and the like.

Oh that's a tough one. There are probably bunch of foods you could cook for a foreigner.
I say Pizza (though that's Italian, but Americans seem to have different ways of making it).

American food? First things that come to mind are burgers & hot dogs. Try barbecue! Slow cook some baby back ribs that have a good spice rub on them, and serve them with BBQ sauce on the side -- good BBQ sauce like Sweet Baby Ray's or KC Masterpiece, not Kraft.

first make sure they eat beef and/or pork.I had relatives visit from the U.K. and they went crazy over BLT sandwiches.never heard of them.(with mayo not miracle whip.)they did know about fried chicken and pot roast.I guess it depends on what country they come from.a south american may not know saurkraut but I wouldn't serve it to a german.but I might serve a german tacos, evan though niether dish is truely "American"they are some american favorites.

Think "church" food. Like pies, casseroles, southern dishes. A muffaletta sandwich is excellent. I have a friend in Scotland and sent her a Farm Bureau cookbook. She and her friends giggled at some of the recipes. So go with what you know, or whatever you know as traditional.

because all the smells intertwine when they cook and smell good. it's not hard to make food smell good. it's harder to make food taste good. my neighbors are full chinese i believe doubt they came from America but their house is a total pig sty. theirs crap they bring home from work all over their front yard and back yard and it's all broken things like tables, fridge, washing machines,etc.. but from time to time when they are cooking it smells really good. but i highly doubt it tastes that good. why? just walk infront of their door step and you will understand why theirs craps everywhere including dead plants/animals decaying like fish. Im sure they don't shop at a real grocery store either but the local china town and everyone in my state knows the china town isn;t very good for groceries as it's been known to carry rats and it isn't even that tasty. that being said don't let the smells fool you.
