use vinegar and water. Don't spank the puppy or rub his nose in it that will make him afraid and he won't trust you. The vinegar smell will go away and the puppy won't go there ever again. If your just training it. Take it out every 1/2 hour for about 1 week. Then the following week take it out every hour and so on and so forth. Keep a close eye on the puppy to watch and it will begin to tell you when it has to go. Use the same door in the house all the time till you get it trained. He may bark to tell you or go to the door and make a whining noise. By the time your up to several hours before you take it out it should be able to hold his or her baldder better.

The carpeting will be the hard one. Clean it up as best you can. They sell sprays that neutralize the odors at the major pet stores like PetSmart and PetCo. I would also pour a little dry Baking Soda on the area . . that will also help to neutralize the odor. It is a difficult problem, because a dogs sense of smell is much keener than a humans. Good luck ! :)

Never use soap on carpet in large quantity. Vinegar, H2o and 1 drop of liquid dish soap. Soap will clean it but, it attracts dirt later on. There are products that have enzymes to remove any of the odor causing Bactria. Works best. Crate training is a must with puppy's. Unless there playing or sleeping....off to the crate. You will one happy pet owner. Best of luck to you:)

WHITE VINEGAR.
Clean the spot the very best you can. Then go back with a mix of white vinegar and water, I use 1/2 and 1/2. It takes smells out. Never use amonia.

There are plenty of stains that happen to land onto your carpet each and every day. You may notice them, or they may slip past you. One thing is for sure. Having stains of any type of your carpet can cause you to have less value in your home and will require that you invest in new carpeting more frequently than you should need to. Yet, if you know a few methods to removing carpet stains, you may just find that this is no longer the case. Carpet stain removal can happen if you take some time to learn how to do it more effectively.
To help you, we have several areas listed here that may be what you need. Various stains on carpeting require various types of chemicals or cleaning methods. Knowing which bottle to grab or how to react to the stain will help you to get rid of it faster and more thoroughly.
Food Stains
The most common type of stain to land onto your carpeting is going to be that of food. But, each type of food may have a different method that needs to be used to clean it up. So, to break it down some, take a look at these methods for cleaning up the most popular food stains for in anyone’s home.
Coffee, Juice and Wine Stains:
These are some of the most common types of stains. To get rid of them, use a clean terry cloth or white paper towels to blot up all of the excess liquid that you have. Do not scrub. Next, apply club soda to the area. Then, after a few seconds of sitting, you will want to again blot out the stain with clean, dry paper towels. Next, do the same thing but with clean water to rinse the area. Finally, if these things do not work to remove the stain, apply hydrogen peroxide to the area and let it sit. Blot off any excess liquid there.
Chocolate or Ice Cream:
Yes, these wind up on your floor too. To remove them, mix one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with one cup of water. Apply to a clean terry cloth and then to the area. Blot as much as possible with dry, clean paper towels or terry cloths. Repeat this process until all of the stain has been successfully removed.
Grease or Oily Stains:
These are some of the worst stains to clean up. But, you can do it. Apply a non oily, non caustic dry cleaning solvent to the area. Use only a small amount. You should check to make sure that this product will not stain the carpet itself by testing it in a hidden area first. Rinse the area with warm water and blot it dry.
sorry of it's kinda long... But, it should answer all or most of your carpet stains!!
gud luck!!
any questions, just email me!! tnx!

I am not sure about the brand name, but you should use neutralizers (i think thats what they are called). Neutralizers take the smell away and dogs never relieve themselves where they have already (i read that in a dog trainging tutorial)
good luck!

Don't know if this will work, but you might try soda or Arm & Hammer makes a product called "pet fresh"--in the laundry section. Just a thought.
