A big fat mouse vandalized 5 of my cars by chewing up all the plastic containers (washer fluid, coolant, etc) and wires and such.... probably did about $500 in damages. Are these usually covered by the comp portion of the insurance? I can't find my policy at the moment and the company is closed today.

Btw, I caught the mouse, it pooped on itself when I caught it by the tail, then crushed it. Felt so good.

Yes. This is a covered loss on every policy I can think of under comp. This type of loss happens more than you think! I once inspected wiring damage done by a pet hamster that escaped while being transported from the pet store to home. He did about $300.00 in wiring damage before he was captured (two days later) by mom. You will have a deductable applied (if you have one under comp.) per car/loss.

You have a comp claim my friend, deductible always applies. I once had a claimant who was such a pig, did the McDonald's drive thru thing all the time and threw the left overs in the back seat. Before long he had a family of rats camping in his car and wow, did they do a number on it, even chewed up the insulation in the dash to make a nest. This bozo never missed a beat though, just kept driving the car with the rats living in it...yuck. And this is a true story people.

Yes, if you're serious with the question, it will be covered. For each car of the 5 you will pay the deductible if any and they will pay the rest. Each car, not total to all 5.

So, if you have $500 deductible on each car, you pay the first $2,500.

Well if you're serious about the question, and you have comprehensive coverage, it may be covered. You'd have to pay your deductible, and it would apply to each vehicle, not total for all of them. So if you may have a higher deductible than the damages.

Yes, it would be covered by comprehensive.

Your deductible is going to apply - and it will get tricky with more than 1 vehicle if they don't have the same deductibles.

i am laughing my butt off! but yes i would say your insurance will cover it just like if you had hit the moose with your car! wonders if they will take all that damage together since it is 5 cars and not one?
