it is tough to cope with. Depression is debilitating and anyone who tells you otherwise or suggests snapping out of it' has no idea what they are talking about.
Depression renders you very vulnerable, and reinforces all the negative beliefs you have about yourself, you can probably recall every single negative word anyone has ever said to you during your life, yet, try to remember when a nice thing was handed to you and you struggle?
And then the depression gets a strong foothold and it ends up telling you, you really are useless, worthless, a failure, but then it adds on to that, 'and everyone else thinks so too'.
So, you believe that. And you think to yourself that you have to go through this alone because everyone out there feels as bad about you as you feel about yourself. And then you enter the isolating phase, closing out everyone, pushing friends away, and yet even as you're doing that, there's a big part of you screaming inside, 'please don't leave me' and they don't know that so they think that when you say, 'go away' that's what you mean.
And you end up feeling rejected and left to deal with it, and then you might feel angry, at yourself because after all, you knew you were this despicable lowlife and now everyone esle thinks so too. And it's such a relentless cycle.
And you're not alone. All of us with depression go through this regularly, it is tough.
Talking therapies can help, they're just not always readily available at the exact time they're needed. And many anti depressants can take the edge off those terrible feelings, but even then, it's a minefield, with so many different types, and they don't come with a 'one size fits all' tag.
Seek help, talk to friends if you can, if not, write down how you feel, it's better to get it out than to let it fester inside. And hang in there, there are occasional glimpses of hope. I met my new born nephew for the first time yesterday. The last few weeks have been pretty horrible, but I'm just bursting with pride now, it's an amazing feeling, some new little soul out there, actually smiled at me, let me hug him all afternoon, laughed when I sang to him and fell asleep on me, it just made life that little bit more tolerable.

Oh i go thru this everyday, I very rarely want to leave the house, and I don't want to leave because I think I'm fat, and ugly. I don't want people to see me looking this way, because I think they are judging me. So ultimately I just become isolated from everyone but my kids and husband, and no it's not really tough to cope, because I have my own ways of coping but none the less i'm sure if i got counseling it would help me, but people can be mean and I'd rather just not deal with them.

Those feelings are part of being depressed. You may have a mood disorder. As we approach the 5th anniversary of September 11th, I'll bet a lot of people are feeling down. If your feelings continue for more than two weeks, however, you should see a medical professional. Help is on the way!

Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. It's not anyone's fault. Seeing a doctor or psychiatrist (different from a psychologist because a psychiatrist can prescribe drugs) and getting medication to regulate those chemicals can help.
But no matter what, go and get help. There is no shame in having depression. Millions of people have it, and when you go, you'll realize that you're really NOT alone.

Because your mind is running on empty(thinking of self)--Get out with friends and do something different. If you don't have any friends then get OUT of where ever you are at and meet/make friends... ( go to a riding stable and make friends with a HORSE) you don't have to ride.
