More or less both have same meaning and only usage are different and to used as per circumstances.

STUPID - Adjective

Meaning - characterised by or proceeding from mental dullness; foolish; senseless

IDIOT - Noun Adjective - Idiocy)
Meaning - an utterly foolish or senseless person
