Imagine that you are a tourist in London, doing all the compulsory Touristy things like drinking warm, flat beer, eating fish&chips out of old newspapers and taking lots of photographs to bore all your friends and family with.

The River Thames is in flood and right before your eyes Tony Blair and Gordon Brown are being swept out to sea. They're going down for the third time and in the space of half a second you realise that you can unsling your camera from its shoulder strap and use the strap to cast out as a lifeline to one, but ONLY one of them. Alternatively you can use the camera to record the event for posterity.

So the question is:
what shutter speed would you use?

They're too far away to grab the lifeline so you shout,
"Grab hold of Southend Pier!! Grab hold of Southend Pier!!"

(Perhaps it was too late)

I would dive in and make sure they both drowned. Can't leave something that important to chance.
