You most certainly can be. While most church going people are friendly, generous, etc etc etc, you can still find very christian people out there who do not go to church.
I do not go to church as often as some, but I feel I still do as much, if not more than those who do!!
Being christian is within oneself. It is your way of giving, caring, you know what I mean.
To accept others without judgement and not looking at the colour of their skin, or the size of their bank balance, that is what it is all about.
It is kind of like when you go outside on a beautiful day and think to your self just how gorgeous it is. Without knowing it, you are thanking God for it. All people 'pray' in their own way. I think, to marvel at the beauty in the world and to appreciate it, is to be christian. Now, when I say beauty in the world, I do not mean it cosmetically, I mean seeing the niceness in someone who is an absolute grouch or nasty person, as well as seeing the beauty of a new born baby.
I hope you have a long and healthy life and the world is good to you.
Cheers.
Helen :-)

Christianity begins by following Christ. A church is just an assembly point for people who think alike to get together at.
Very often the person heading the Church is wrong.
All Church's are formed to follow one mans ideas and precepts. The building usually belongs to one person who represents the congregation, and he gets the money they collect, not God. God doesn't need money.
If you believe, and spread the word about God's Kingdom, as Jesus did, where does the church come in?
Jesus went from house to house, city to city and they followed him.
He taught the apostles to do the same.
When they left the building at Pentecost, they traveled far and wide spreading the Gospel/ Good News, and made christian converts where ever they went. The church was born, and it was Christian.

Yes, you can be a Christian and not go to church. Being a Christian is much more than going to church, though church is a good idea and can be helpful in your life.

It is about your own personal relationship between you and God. Going to church is each persons own choice, some feel like they want to belong to a family, the body of christ and that makes them happy. But you can be happy without the church if your own personal relationship with God is like that. Its how you feel in your heart which matters the most. Some people only go to church to look good that does not make them a better christian than someone who doesn't go to church. Remember, God knows your heart. :)

going to church doesn't make you a Christian. You go to church to get right with God you don't get right with God to go to church. There are elderly people who are christian people who aren't able to attend church, but they are still Christians. If you are a born again Christian you should want to go to church. The need to fellowship and worship helps a Christian stay strong in the Lord. The life of a Christian is straight and narrow. The Sunday service strengthens you the first part of the week and Wednesdy service will help you thru until Sunday. GET up, get dress, worship our heavenly father!!!

Oh dear Zé Comédiar, being a Christian does not imply one ought to pay a weekly visit to a church as a ritual.
Religion is after all a way of life and going to church or mosque or temple is just a part of that process. Maybe it is ideal too but depends on one's given circumstances!
By the way your nick name suggests you are a comedian, am I right?

I believe I'm a Christian, and I don't go to Church!!! God and I have this understanding. Churches are full of "hypo critics" - they preach about smoking and drinking then as soon as they hit the parking lot they pop a top and light up. Besides that, when I die I know I am going to Heaven, because I spent my time in Hell!!! (though don't we all)

Yes... many are...but if there is not a valid reason..such as those in China who must hide their Faith..then the self isolated one is in violation of God's instruction to fellowship with other believers. The Church is where two or more are geathered in The Name of Jesus The Christ. The Church is not a building... It is The Body of believers.... so... even those who must hide their Faith are, in fact, going to Church when they meet just in twos and threes...perhaps out in a field while they work even...that is still "The Church"

Attending church does not make a person a Christian, however, it is a joy to go to meet with others of like mind, once you have become a Christian.
A Christian is someone who has asked Jesus to forgive their sin, and cleanse them from all unrighteousness, who has repented of their sin, and are living their lives for God instead of pleasing themselves.
Jesus said, take up your cross daily, and follow me!
