My husband and I have some computer equipment to daonate and thought it would best be appreciated over there.

I think giving your old computer would be a GREAT idea to the soldiers in Iraq - my husband is there now and they have to share 2 computers for 65 soldiers...

I would contact either Peterson AFB, Schriever AFB or Buckley AFB (depending on which one you are closer too) Maybe they can give you more details.

Your compassion for service members is appreciated, and it's nice to know that you're thinking of them. Having said that I believe that, as other answerer's have said, it would probably be more productive to donate your used computer equipment to a school. Many have limited resources and could really put it to use. (don't forget to get a receipt so you can deduct your donation on your income taxes)
Make certain that you remove COMPLETELY all of your personal data from the hard drive.
I am also not quite sure that it is legal to "Export" computer equipment into foreign countries. Although you intend it to go to American military members the risk of it being pilfered into the hands of those with less that honorable intentions is great..

I'm sure your used computer equipment would better serve some poor kids in Mexico more than a U.S. Soldier.
