When you fast, your body starts to take in fat thats already stored in your body. This will make you look heavier for up to a few days. If you fast for too long your body will start to consume muscle. You don't want that, right? Not to mention the lack of nutrition. No vitamins, no protein, no carbs, no fat. Its incredibly unhealthy in every way possible. Don't do it.

Its easy. pick a day and one that you won't be doing much. Get it in your head when you wake up that you won't be eating anything all day. Not just by thinking it but feel it too. If you're really hydrated then stay away from water untill you start feeling a little hungry. If you have too much in the morning then you will be very hungry later on, so i usually wait until 4 in the evening before having water. Keeping your activity level low will help you get through the day and as you get better at it you can go for little walks or activites without feeling drained. I would wait at least a week before doing it again (i would only do it once a week anyway) and also very important is what you eat first when you stop your fast. Make sure its really healthy food, organic or something, because it will make you feel really good, and if its junk food then you'll probably feel worse. And for a first timer make sure you don't get stuck in a situation where you will be temped to stray. Good luck

Hey there, i am a muslim and proud to be one. I am soon going to begin fasting for about a month. This concludes of no food or water, and no bad thoughts about anything. You start from about :6 am-7pm...and the time gets early by minutes..
The way you should go about this is by, gathering all the reasons why you would like to fast, and if they mean plenty go ahead. There really is not a correct way to do so, so you just have to say i will fast from 6am - 7pm then you can eat all night long, up till 5:59am. I mean if you are doing this for a "religious belief".
P.S. I WAS NOT BORN MUSLIM.

I don't know why you want to fast. I have done it as a cleansing ritual for about 5 years, and it worked well, but it was to allow me to spend more time on the spiritual realm. I would not fast for more than two meals because you need nourishment, even to think. I would not fast on a school day or workday, but when you know what else you want to substitute it with. Do you want to fast because you need to connect with something, or because you want to lose weight? If you choose the latter, forget it because it will not make you lose weight without running intro problems.

Don't try to fast for an entire day yet. Try an 8 hour fast a couple of times and see how your body reacts to that.

drink fluid...the body needs fluid,as we are 75% water.... any religion/church that tells you you can't drink water during a fast, is unhealthy and not mentally sound. but drink fluid, fruit juice,water, not soda, flavored water, ect. Why no soda?? it has no nutrional value and the phosphoric acid ( the bubbles) makes your bones soft and weak ( they do not let the body absorb calcuim). this is something tht pepsico and coco cola dont want you to know! I think that fasting is wrong, unless it is for ONE meal,and ONLY for church! Otherwise, DONT DO IT! It isnt healthy,and the body consumes muscle. The other ppl know what they are talking about.

Be sure that you want to then pick a date to do it. most people fast for certain reasons so do your best to stay on the fast, if you fail just keep on trying until you have made yourself happy!

you should NEVER fast!! when you do that your body thinks your not going to feed it anymore and starts storing all your body fat and makes you gain weight.
