I will give you the same explanation that I gave another girl on here:
As a 13th generation Floridian, I would say it is important because Florida's Hertiage is of Hispanic origin. My family heritage is traced back to the Sanchez family, which is one of the two oldest familes in Florida, along with the Solana family. Both are from Spain, and we were the very first Floridians.
Also, many people don't realize that a lot of Cubans were Floridians first. Florida belonged to Spain for half a century longer than it has been part of the U.S. When the Spanish gave Florida to the British all but a few left and went to Cuba. So today, when people come to Florida from Cuba they are essentially returning here from exhile.
With Florida having such a diverse population today, it is important to realize where it all started. Many people base their opinions on their prejudices against hispanic people and they don't even realize the true history of Florida.

No reason sexy cat. If you are asking about the Miami Cubans, they are only here temporarily until they go back to Cuba after Castro dies or quits. Or that's what they think.
Fact is, they have driven America's foreign policy toward Cuba for 40 years and have done the US somewhat a disservice. The US missed several good opportunities to make Castro irrelevant, but the Miami Cubans don't want normal relations with Cuba.
As soon as the Russians withdrew their financial support, we shoulda dropped all sanctions against Cuba. When the Pope visited Cuba, we shoulda done it. When Castro went into the hospital, we shoulda done it. Even Castro admits the US made him an internationally known dictator.
