Why do they use this excuse to justify their presense in our country: "If we werent here to do certain jobs they wouldnt get done because the white man wont do them."

Do they realize that if they werent here to do them that WE certainly would and that we would also get paid better to do them?

those jobs would be filled by Americans, the reason they say we wont do them is because they aren't available because immigrants take them. I would clean toilets and pick fruit as a second job. Teens would do them for extra money as well would college students to make money. They can't tell me they absolutely need illegals to take them.

Exactly. I agree with you 100 percent. You will get some dumb idiots stating that illegals do not affect our wages. But they do. Minimum wage would go up if there was no one to do the jobs for 5.15 an hour. By the way 5.15 an hour is the minimum wage in most states. Wonder why?

This is the only argument the pro-illegals and the illegals have. And its not a good argument at all....the american citizen that hires them are to lazy to do the work..so their for he's pro-illegal. he wants to pay the illegals pennies on the dollars so he can stick the rest in his pocket..If the pro-illegal would quit hiring the illegals then..we anti-illegals would show them who will do the jobs, but at a decent wage..The pro-illegal would rather hand out $1.00 an hour then $6.00 and hour and put the extra $5.00 an hour in his pocket..

yes on hr 4437 stop the criminals and the illegals they hire and protect...

Do you people realize how pathetic & sad you sound saying that you are capable of competing in the labor market with someone who is willing to scrub my toilets for <$5/hr? How big in the L that is tattooed on your forehead?

We Americans were all given the same minimum rights, privileges, & opportunities that come from being born in this land of opportunities. Given this, if the extent of your talents & abilities involves competing for jobs that illegals hold, then maybe you are too stupid, lazy, or genetically flawed to be here. Perhaps it is time that we let Darwinian evolution meld with capitalist economics!

Further, for those of you who say that Americans would do the work if the wage were acceptable or "decent": I worked my butt off to get where I am. Why in the he** should I pay you more than the market clearing wage? Or more pointedly, why should I pay you more than you are worth? Instead of being little socialist whiners, why don't you move up the value chain & do work that the market values! Oh that's right, you can't. & that is why you have to whine to the government to tilt the rules in favor of your pampered a**es.

Technically, you're wrong! As local economies develop, lower classes become middle class (by working hard, and saving).

Middle class people don't want to do low-class (low paying) jobs.

So, immigration very often provides labor source for jobs that new middle classes no longer want to do. Notice history of immigration in this country through 20th century. We're a NATION OF IMMIGRANTS, in fact, in case you haven't noticed!

Really, talk about what you "would do" is cheap. Just do it! I'm sure you can prove your theory by getting a job picking vegetables, doing construction, etc. Put that college degree to work!

What really has happend is that big business has gotten to "have its cake and eat it, too", by promoting policies with loose control over immigration, and non-existent path to legitimization of "illegals". The result is a ready pool of disenfranchised working poor temporary labor, which they can exploit without risk and at very low cost.

The solution is to be HONEST: enact guest worker policies acknowledging that we need these workers, and providing them legitimate means to be here... AND making industry help pay the price in terms of facilitating income/social security tax etc.

Guess what - unemployment is so low and there are more and more jobs every day that we're going need to go out and find people in other countries to come here and do, if we're lucky. If we're not, they will do the jobs while sitting in their own countries and never pay US taxes. That's the direction a lot of companies are taking.

when my mom was about 17 yrs old, she worked in a tomato packing house. There were a lot of white and black workers. everyone worked hard in there. it was hot and dirty. and at the time the pay sucked.

now tell me something...if we were doing those jobs then....why cant American citizens do it now? no one had a problem packing those tomato's. no one said it was for the illegals and that they weren't going to do it.

there is some one for every job.....we just need to get the illegals out of the way so that way the American citizens can do them again.

If America is to protect our cultural heritage, then we should create a St. Ellis hacienda in Arizona or Texas. We could then process the now legal Mexican-American citizens into our country as we did for the other European nationalities in our past.

We can Americanize their names like Henderson instead of Hernandez, and John instead of Julio.

These new citizens will be centrally located so the day laborer bosses can more easily exploit them like the days of New York immigration ships.

Seriously, when will America learn that immigration is what makes America the best place on Earth? We should welcome the Mexicans into our country. Indoctrinate them to our ways and embrace their cultural heritage.

Doesn't anyone realize that the Mexican immigration issue is the new racism of America. Yet, "whitey" is not the only one to blame this time....

I say "let them in." We could use a few more hard working Americans.

They don't care.....They will use any words, phrases, philosophies or excuses to attain what they want. Remember, they came here and as soon as they crossed that line between mehhico and America, they became criminals.

This is not a surprise to them. They have a plan...to steal social security numbers, to give false information, to do whatever to accomplish their goals.

They are given a handbook by the mehhican government which gives them advice on where to go, how to go, how to prepare, and what to say (not to say) if they are apprehended by the border patrol.

So, they live a lie and when they are caught...they squeal like a pig.......make a huge amount of noise....and hope we'll let them go.

I'm a blue collar American in a big union. I'll tell you for sure I'd never cut grass, work at McDonalds, or do any of those crappy jobs. If a Mexican wants it, go right ahead. And if an American is complaining because a Mexican stole his landscaping job then too bad. You can find another crappy job at Walmart. Do you realize that if they weren't here we would do them but a lot worse. I'd trust my lawn to only a Mexican.
