She will go right in front of the door to the patio. It's almost like she knows she needs to go outside but she can't wait. She knows she did something wrong because in the morning she hides. What can we do besides locking her in the utility room all day to get her to not mess in the house? We would like to let her have the run of the house when were not home instead of keeping her cooped up but we have no choice.

YOUR DOG HAS A SMALL BLADDER or a bladder problem.

GET HER CHECKED OUT! Please! If that turns out to be the case, I hope you don't punish her anymore for doing what she can't help doing.

AS a general rule when a dog has accidents right in front of the door the problem is not that shes inadiquetly housebroken, its that the people are falling down on the half of the bargin where they open the door when asked. If its simply that her signals asking out are too subtle then you may be able to remidy the situation by putting a bell on the door handle and teaching her to ring it to get doorman service (ring it or coax her to nudge & ring it every time before you open the door). Also taking her out on a regualr scedule will help or installing a dooggie door (if you have a fenced yard) so she can let herself out. If the problem is she simply cant wait while your at work probably the dog door (if its a good fence ) or a combo of the puppy pads and the laundry room are gonna be the solution unless you can get a dogwalker at lunch.
if shes going very frequently and very urgently it could be a physical problem that a vet can help with.

I suggest getting some puppy pads...the dog uses the restroom on it.It has a natural scent to it that attractsthe dog so it will use the restroom on it easily.I tried it with a 7week old puppy b4 and it went right to it.

When she does go to the bathroom outside, reward and praise her. She will do it more often.
