Severe misfire. Lack of power. Sometimes water will leak down the side of the engine. Other times it will contaminate the oil. Mine blew in between two cylinders, so I had very low compression on both of them. I had no water leak at all. Unusual, but it can happen that way.

The others haven't mentioned possible Hydro lock that's when the cylinder fills with coolant while the engine is turned off. When you try to start the engine it may not crank over or can cause severe engine damage like broken a connecting rod or piston.
also some times you will get enough steam out of the tail pipe to steam clean the road and oil that looks like a butter scotch milk shake.

It might act like nothing, or it might make the car act crazy. Wht engine are we talking about? Some engines, like the 2.0 and 2.4, usually only leaked oil when the head gasket leaked. Some engines overheated, ran terribly, had oil in the radiator, smelled awful, all kinds of symptoms. If you tell us the vehicle, year and engine, we can help you out better...
