The American Dream is social mobility and last year some New Orleans folks were movin' on up, some as far as Utah, but in the UK papers today a report that the top fifth of American households took 50.4% of all income last year, looks like a set-back. When iare the people of the richest, most-powerful nation going to insist that their country looks after its own a little better?

Here in America, each citizen has the opportunity to improve their lot in life without government intrusion. This is not a socialist country which brings all people down to the lowest common denominator. Rather, it offers hope to those who desire it.

In those countries that use a socialist approach of taking individual earnings and dispersing those funds to individuals who didn't earn them, end up destroying their earning class which create jobs from newly created wealth. Governments do not create, they only consume.

Those who cry about the terrible American culture are only "takers" not "makers"

I cant stand Yanks! Id rather have an Asian or Muslim friend than a yank (I'm white British). They're so up their own ars*s, with a , 'we have the biggest and largest and greatest, of everything'! They promote world peace while killing more people than any other nation on the planet. They kill their own people for commercial gain......The plane that struck the pentagon wasn't a plane... No reports on that one 5 years on. It was done to boost the arms sales/budget and to create the propaganda required to rob the oil from Iraq. Saddam had no connection with Osama Bin-laden but he did have masses of oil.. Yanks should be careful it only takes 1 terrorist to put poison in the doughnut mix....Americans + poisoned doughnut dough = Extinction!

As you can see, a lot of them are not interested.
As long as they can keep holding on to the illusion that they themselves will be able to join the ones at the top if they only try hard enough, they couldn't care less about the plight of those at the bottom, even if they are near enough to the bottom themselves.
May be it's all that religion they're getting bombarded with all the time...

The US is rich in money and powerful in weapons and has successfully brainwashed most of its citizens during the last 50 years.
The US is absolutely destitute when it comes to compasion, responsibility and any form of humility and decency.
We all saw just how much the state of america cares for its people after Katrina.

Nope...
We can't control what the fools in other nations think of us...
Perhaps they should pay a little more attention to what is happening in their own dismal little corner of the world....
