We all need to laugh at some thing

Religion in itself does not deserve to be banned- there is a great quote that can really explain this- hopefully I have it right- "It's not God I have a problem with- it's his fans".

Religion is just guidance, help in surviving life, morals, beautiful stories, and a belief that we are more than just an animal on some lonely planet- but peoples' interpretations of different religions cause wars and pain and suffering.

We shouldn't look to ban religion and enforce science- both religion and science should work together- we are afterall just looking for the same answers: why are we here? What is our meaning? Religion is just a way of explaining that which science cannot at the moment- although I strongly believe that we shall have science prove the very existence of God- a creator- one way or the other.

You are asking why should a moralistic faith system be unavailable to us all- and that's just not fair to do that, what needs to happen is that we all work together- no matter what our religion is, be it Christian, Muslim, Jewish or Spiritual or even scientific. It is those who practice the religion and warp it that need to stop.

Well, it has - Catholicism was banned for many years in England, Judaism in almost all European countries at sometime or other. The USSR tried to ban theism, full stop.
It doesn't work, it just gives it the allure of the forbidden. The opiate of the masses.
I am a passionate atheist. I hope to see a world that grows out of religion and recognises it for the great stumbling block to progress that it is, but enforcing a ban is not the answer, it would do more harm than good.

Because, if you ban religion, you ban belief. From your question, I am guessing that you BELIEVE that religion should be banned. If we went ahead and banned it, you would have nothing to BELIEVE because (following my train of thought) we have banned BELIEVING. Which means that you wouldn't believe that religion should be banned, so it wouldn't be banned after all. Then you would believe that it should be banned, then before you know it, we have an eternal paradox over banning religion and beliefs.

Keep it as it is. We all need something to keep us busy.

BTW, I'm not religious, I just love an arguement!!

Regardless what you think or whether religion is made up or truthful, this world would be a scary place without it. Think about 7 billion people with no moral backgrounds terrorizing the whole world. Do you think murder is OK? Well without religion it might have been legal. Just cause you aren't religious doesn't mean you have to be an idiot.

Because most humans need something to make sense of life, and can't accept that there isn't one. So far, so good.
But religion is only one pretext for despising and even killing other people. If you look closely, religion and patriotism are only the means for rulers of any description (in order to keep their privileges/ fatten their purses) to keep their underlings in line.
If there weren't religion they'd find something else to have a "reason" to be at each other's throats.

There is no need to ban religion.
The teachings of religion need to be changed.
Who cares what colour or race Jesus was or who God is,we need to learn to treat each other as brother and sister then we could fall out today, walk out the door and see the other in trouble and be first there to help.
