My husband asked me , why scullcaps were worn by the jewish men?, couldn't fine the answer on the net,

It' symbolic.

It's supposed to remind the one wearing the yarmulka that there is always a God above him.

Wearing a yarmulka is only required during prayer, however it's preferable to wear one at all times. Most Orthodox Jews wear Yarmulkas all the time with the exception of some Jews of Syrian descent.
