Yes, we have a number of anti air & anti missle defense systems. Most notable are the Navy's AEGIS system which is used to defend the fleet from Anti ship missles and air attack. THe Navy has recently stationed Aegis DDG's to Japan. They are to counter North Korean missle activity. ON land we have the Patriot missle system which was used to defend Israel & Saudi Arabia from SCUD missiles in the Gulf war. Long term we are working a limited defense system to defend the US from balistic missles. We had a succucesful test shoot down with it about two weeks ago. This a
outgrowth of the old SDI program of the 1980's.

the patriot missile was first tested in the first gulf war and is continually being upgraded. Also there was a test of a more modern system in outer space.

Well...u can certainly shoot down low flying and maybe some ballastic missiles....but its not completely accurate...so success rate is very low.
