We have a 10 years old spayed tortie who has lived with both my parents and my family about equally. She was always quiet, and you never saw her except at mealtimes. When my parents moved, they left her with us, and she just seems to have gone through a total personality change. She's ALWAYS either in my lap, or following me around, and she meows ALL THE TIME!! She's never acted like this before, and I'm kind of worried. She is very well fed, up to date on her shots, there have not been any major changes in our lives and like I said, she's lived with us before. What could possibly be causing this?

She was probably very attached to your parents, even though she may have never showed them affection. They were her security blanket and she may feel abandoned, so she is making sure she is with you whenever possible. It makes her feel better to know that you are there and you won't leave her. Or maybe she just really likes you better than your parents. ;) She sounds like a sweet kitty, and I wouldn't worry too much.

YES - their personalities can change -
declawing is often the biggest cause of personality change (the cats become more agressive, more nervous)
loss of another pet often causes changes
moving into a new home is also another thing that will change their personality
new owners does too...

you remove "something" that hinders the can or that is a comfort and a part of their personality that was hidden may show itself OR the referse a part of their personality becomes hidden...

her meowing all the time is her LOOKING for your parents OR could be a sign of age related deafness

They are just like humans! They have feelings of fear, resistant to change, etc. You cat is probably shaken by then major change...after 10 years of being one way. Some cats will withdraw and go into a depression and some will cling, like your cat is doing. The bes thing to do is show extra affection and attention (as if you were going through the same things and needed extra comfort). it will all pass and get back to "normal" after your cat feels she is safe.

Maybe one of your parents had been doing something to discourage the behavior and now she can just be herself. The lap kitty she always wanted to be. She has found herself.

It is separation anxiety. Put yourself in her place. One half of her world just disappeared. Are you going next? She is scared to death. Be patient and love her. She needs you now more than ever.

Yes I think if a cat has bad experiance it can change her behaviour. If she is left alone she gets happy when she sees you.
