My daughter is turning 13 in October and we are having a Spa Party. There is a local spa here that does it - it includes a little make-up (which my daughter doesn't wear, but its okay for the party), hair and manicure. It also includes pizza, cake, drinks and goody bags. This all for only $39 per child. For her gift I am getting her a sewing machine - she likes to sew and has been doing it by hand for over 6 months.

If all else fails you can get her a visa debit card. By the way my daughter does have a cell phone and I love that she can call me anytime when she is at a friends or even after school to tell me she is staying late for a club and forgot to tell me. At first I thought it was a luxury but my kids do not abuse it at all.

Good luck I am sure you will think of something fun!

Do you have the means to rent a small hall. ( or do you have a garage), find a newer DJ that is willing to do a small party with little effects. I did my daughters as a disco party and the DJ was good although a new DJ. And for a cell phone. My kids have the firefly. You program who they can call and receive calls from, and you get a report too.

Firefly

The first phone designed uniquely for kids 5 – 12 and parents in the US, the Firefly has been very well received. The Firefly is small to fit into your child’s hand, with flashing lights and 12 pre-loaded ring tones and is so easy to use! And mom and dad can pre-program fast dial keys, plus configure up to 20 numbers, and set incoming call screening - all using PIN control for piece of mind. No wonder kids love the Firefly, almost as much as parents do.

Since your question was under the pet category I suggest that the party be held at the nearest zoo.Add a scavenger hunt and her present can be her adoption of an animal at the zoo. What girl needs a cell phone when she has her own gorilla or tiger.Oh! My bad. She needs to call everyone and keep them updated on her new baby.

Try a slumber party and movies, or take her to her most favourite place with a couple of her friends.

Buying for a 12 year old girl is difficult as I have the same problem, as my daughter is 12 in december. She has told me that she does not want cds, dvds or clothes, maybe get her something for her bedroom.

I agree with Jon K. A cellphone is your best bet. But, an XBOX won't be so bad if she's into gaming and stuff. But if all else fails, a gift voucher with a resonable monetary value won't be so bad. She could go to the mall and spend on whatever she want!

The best birthday my daughter had was when I hired a clown and the whole cake and theme was clown and happy things with lots of friends and balloons. Let her have friends sleep over too. The clown entertained the kids and kept them laughing.

with this day and age you are niave for not giving your 12 year old a cell phone. with all the dangers and child predators out there, its better to suck it up and give her the phone. you really want something to happen to her with no chance of letting anyone else know?
