you have ALOT of pets already - why do you need another?? it sounds like you are more of a "collector" than a pet owner... 10 cats?? dang if they are all spayed and neutered AND up to date on vaccinations....then okay but other wise you are NOT a good owner...
all pets should be FAMILY PETS - kids cannot understand "LIFETIME COMMITMENT" what happens to the pets when you move out or go to College - few landlords allow pets - will your parents keep them or abandon them or have them put to sleep
if you havent paid anything for your pets then YOU ARE NOT the owner.. the person paying is the owner...you have enough pets.. take care of them - love them - look after then - start paying for their food etc...
otherwise save your money - buy your own house and get your own pets

The fact that you're in such a hurry is a strike against you. If you want to convince your mother that you need a dog, first do your research so she knows that you're serious about it. Tell her what kind of dog you want and how you plan to pay for its needs. Then be patient about finding the right dog. It's not like getting a DVD that you can ignore or return if you find out you don't like it. It's a living animal that's going to require years of care and attention.

ok, well you should'nt rush getting a dog. they are a life long comitmint and you dont want to screw that up. so look at different animal shelters with your mom. and look at different breeds on the internet. then tell her all about the good things about the different breeds that you like. this wont get you a dog instantly, because if you get a purebreed dog from a breeder, you will be put on a waiting list and that takes a while to get your dog. and if u go to a shelter or pound, then your not always gaurenteed a healthy dog. so just research, research, and research. that's all i can tell you.

Don't disrespect your Mother's wishes, she know's what's best. She's the one paying the bill's. A few of the cost's are trips to the vet, good dog food, flea control, heart worm preventative, and much, much more. For now, go volunteer at your local humane society or find a rescue group to help out. You will learn so much about dog's and how to care for them. Remember, your Mom has a lot of thing's to consider that you haven't thought about.

Take care of all the pets you have. Dogs are not the same as, say, a pair of expensive new shoes you beg mom for. Why do you want it? cause it's cute? I doubt it's cause your lonely, or lacking things to do.And the deadline? makes me think your motives are purely self-serving, maybe even immature...? Your mom is right on this one. Get a goldfish if you must have something RIGHT NOW.
