Christians believe in Armageddon, that the Rature has begun and soon all the "true believers" will leave the rest of us behind as they are lifted by God from this world. If Christians believe in such madness, they do not believe in the future of mankind, the planet or a possible better and safer world for our children. Why should Christians be allowed to vote or participate in the shaping of the future if they are so hopeless about it?

corpus : you're so right. Christians are a very dark subject.

I love your question. The problem is that Christians are trying to *bring on* the end of the world, and a few of them are kooky enough to push buttons or do whatever it takes to start biological or nuclear devastation. Bush and his ilk, for example.

you have the right and wrong information. The coming of the Lord is a much better world for all involved. There will be peace no pain no crying. Voting our christians value is our responsibility. We have to try and put those in place that we believe will also be interested in doing God's work I would and do pray that none are left behind but I know that there are those that will be. It is sad for any christians to think of anyone left to deal with the extremely hard times for a short while that will take place after the rapture. That is one reason I enjoy this site and I pra I can truly help aloy of people realize that they need to change if they have not already. I will pray for you too.

Who should be the decider of who is allowed to vote? We were founded on the idea that only white, land-owning, educated males could vote (not really a true democracy). Only over time did the rest of us get the right to vote.

Taking that right away from any one group, based on religion, sex, education, or wealth is robbing us of our democracy (and in opposition to the American Constitution).

You could find reasons for a lot of people not to be "allowed" to vote. Convicted felons do have that right taken away from them. For the rest of us, it is a precious right that we do not want to lose despite our personal beliefs.

It's really hard to have an attitude test for voters (and that attitude is confined to a subset of fundamentalists; it is hardly characteristic of all Christians).

If you don't want them voting, encouraging them to move someplace outside the USA would help.  There's at least one apocalyptic cult which moved to Guyana and they're not even asking for absentee ballots any more.

We, as Christians are to occupy till Jesus comes back to earth. Since no one knows when this is (except the Father), we are to live for the future, but expecting.
Besides, if we elect a Christian, then he'll be out of here and non Christians don't have to worry.

Well the rapture hasnt happened yet. Those who are saved are more concerned for you lost people than you are for yourselves. When I vote for a President I vote for the one God lays on my heart. Do not think you know us all, just cause one day we will be Raptured out. Why do you think so many saved people witness to you lost people, its cause we do care. Now what you do with what we show you in God's word is up to you.

All of us are not hopeless. I don't think the rapture has begun, I do believe it is not too far off though. I deserve the right to vote just like everyone else...muslims, jehovah's witnesses, black, white, gay...whatever. We're all Americans and as Americans have a right to express our opinions.

If the doctor tells you you're dying in a year's time, are you going to spend the remaining of your life in misery or convert it into something more meaningful, for the ones you'll leave behind, at least?

to vote is a priviledge here in The United States. many people have given their all so we could have the freedom to choose the leaders of our country. there may be a few who are what you say but certainly they are not the normal average Christian citizen of this country.

So what would you have them do? Sit like a lump on the street waiting to be zapped up to Heaven? Are you ready to support them financially then until this happens? And why do you consider yourself to be on the "staying behind" side?
