Any woman who visits an American medical professional to receive oral contraceptives, is most likely informed that the "pill" is not effective to prevent pregnancy if not taken daily...
If you didn't receive that information directly from your health professional, the law requires all pharmacies to provide an information sheet when dispensing all prescription drugs.

You should not decide yourself how to take any prescription medication without consulting your health professional or pharmacist. If you don't time to see them in person, you can always make your inquiries over the phone...

Oral contraceptives have to be taken on a daily basis at around the same time every day, not doing so will increase the chances of you becoming pregnant. So if you want to use that as a contraceptive you will need to take it daily regardless if you have sex or not.

Sounds like you'd be better off with a condom, or some other form of removable contraceptive that doesn't rely on a schedule.

You need to take the Pill every single day, around the same time of the day, to be effective.
Trust me, you do not want to be going on and off the pill. It will screw up your hormones something fierce!!!!
Also, since you are JUST going on the pill 2 days before seeing your bf, PLEASE make certain to use a condom. This is very important as the Pill takes awile to "kick-in" when you first start taking it.

Girl,if you can go that long without the sex,
why not just wait until the wedding to have
sex period!!!
What is the point of having sex once a month
anyway if you are getting married and would
feel much better about yourself if you waited
anyway? I know the worry you seem to be
going through isn't worth the sex just once a
month. You really should wait until the marriage
takes place. He really is going to marry you,
right?

To be effective the pill has to be taken every day at about the same time every day. You should also be taking it for at least a month before you have unprotected sex.

Your doctor should have explained this to you when he gave you the prescription.

Always remember, the pill does not protect you from sexually transmitted diseases.

In order for the pill to work. They have to be taken everyday. You can't miss one, you miss one you'll have to start all over again. So make sure you take them all, and every month. Usually a doctor will give them to you for free. (Free samples, my dr. does)

now what really sounds logical to you
if you only take the pill a day before you are sexually active it doesn't have a chance to get in your system
You need to talk to your OBGYN about other alternatives because if not you will be expecting sooner than later

You should speak to your doc, but it sounds to me like the pill is not for you. It has to be taken every day not just on days you want to have sex. Maybe condoms would be a better choice.
