i have a bf working far from me and we met only once a month.on wed we suppose to meet and i will take nordette (oral cotraceptive) on tuesday because that is my 5th day of period and on wed he will meet me and thursday morning leave again to work for our coming wedding.I am a first time user of this contraceptive and i am planning to staop it as soon as he left and take again when he will come back to see me.my question is,if that is my way of taking a pill do you think it could lessen the chance of preventing me from pregnancy?I don't want to take it everyday cause it's not everyday that i make love to my bf.I don't have time to see a doctor to discuss this but i hope somebody there could help me or give me an idea.thanks a lot...

If you are really opposed to oral contraceptive, why don't you use a condom? The two of you only do it once a month, so a pack will last you a year. Doesn't make much sense to take the pill all month long when you can use a condom once.

It only takes one intimate encounter to get pregnant.
And you have to take the pill according to the specifications otherwise it won't work.
I'm sorry but I'm in complete disbelief that you think you only need to take it when you see him. It takes 7 days to take effect and the constant interruption to your cycle if you stop-start can't be good for you.
I think I know why so many women get pregnant when they say they're on the pill if this question is anything to go by.
Sorry, but I really am gobsmacked.

i dont think that your chances of pregancy will increase with this method of contraception but you have to bear in mind how the tablet works. the pill makes your body think that it is pregnant and your body starts responding in this way. if you keep giving your body this surge of hormones just for a short while, it could have serious consequences on your reproductive system if you decide to have children in the future.

dont mess around with taking birth control then stoping then starting again, tell him to use a condom. starting and stopping birth control will mess up the timing of your cycle and also your attitude will be all over the place.

its always best to keep taking the pill once started to take your self on and off it is not a good idea. it will mess with your whole menstrual cycle if you do not to mention your hormones. keep on it girl and stay on it

it is called a condom he will wear it when you have relations the pill only works when you take it everyday,the only other effective method is doing without,but that is probably not going to happen.
