About a month ago, we were pressed for time. Usually when my kids shower or bathe, they take forever. So me, my 4 year old son and my 8 year old son, got in the shower and did a speed clean. They washed themselves, exept I helped the 4 year old wash his hair. I washed myself. I don't want my kids to be ashamed of their bodies or think their is anything wrong with nudity. And with me there to hurry them along we were done in about 5 minutes. A quick wash up. My mother thought it was completely innappropriate. Anybody else have an opinion? I am a 41 year old heterosexual male.

Mom was at my house at the time. She was the one who was kind of rushing us in the first place!

I don't think you have done wrong. You are all males and even if one of you was female -it is not wrong. How did your mother come know ? She has no business to know it - she being an old timer will take objection even if you take shower with your wife ! The motive counts and yours was not sexual so nothing wrong.

The four year old not an issue - the eight year old some my feel that is a bit old for a child to be showering with a parent - but still not really an issue either. A boy of eight will an sometime in the not to distant future be exposed to the gang showers and such they have for guys in gym locker rooms at school, camp, etc... I am not sure its an issue of shame about there bodies that is the issue hear - but at what time does in become inappropriate for men to be showering together.

After the age of 4 probably not a good idea. In our society, nudity of the parent in front of the child can be very threatening, sorry.

shameful i think. respect and teach them sum too! it'll soon bbe like 'we can go round house nude;, then go outside in front or back yard nude and its still ok'. not right. they need privacy and learn that u dont go showing ur jewels where its not needed to be shown. it'll be ok to do anything if the habit is kept up. thank God it aint girl involved.tahts even more shameful. boys showering or bathing together is k but with u, NO! let them find out themselves wot happens pubic hair etc.dont they ask u weird questions like how *** i have no hair and u do etc? ewwww.

Since it was a speed clean, I see no problem with this as an emergency, but a child at least need to learn a sense of privacy

What is wrong with everyone getting clean. You are a man, and they will be someday. If it was your daughter, I would have a problem with that. As long as you feel comfortable with this and your children do to, why even tell your mom.
You are right to not make this an issue and then have them feel ashamed. Tell mom to cool it.Then don't tell her everything.

I don't see anything inappropiate or "wrong" with it. Your mother is from a different generation, one which usually viewed nudity as "dirty" and correlated it with being sexual. Your intentions were innocent.

Relax, you're doing a good job.

Don't make it a habit...child protective services are extremely strict these days. I would hate to see something innocent turned into something that could possibly ruin your life.
