No, there all oil base products made from petroleum. The basic real of thumb is...... if you can't eat it don't put it on your skin. Your skin is a organ that breaths. What ever you put on your skin will enter your blood stream. If you don't believe me. Think about all these patch's you put on your skin for birth control, nicotine addiction, and pain patches, ect.

Unused soap can be re-moulded into new bars.
Some jars and botles are re-useable.
how can you recycle something that has been stuck to your skin?
how do you get it off?

If it has not been used then it would be better to reduce the amount bought to start with.
many of the production and packaging processes are deliberatly unsustainable because the more "expensive" the more cachet it has, like eating unhealthy amounts of meat or driving a "big" car.

the containers they come in are more likely to be recyclable than the cosmetic.

The best way to "recycle" is to -"reuse" -[think Jack Johnson and Curious George - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle] so by buying a refillable compact (like the ones offered by Mary Kay) you use a lot less plastic when you buy the refills than when you go to the store and buy a whole new eyeshadow or blush in its own little plastic case.
