Well, is it really the Old Testament that the new refer to? I doubt it. Anyway, i understand what you mean. The fact is there is no clear agreement on the part of Jesus with the cruelties of the Old testament.
One thing is christian do not make animal sacrifices, like the jews, but light candles (candels used to be made of fats, but...)
Looking from the viewpoint of an orthodox the answer to your main question is he has objection, but who might say what was it!
from the viewpoint of a Catholic though I must say, it seems the religion has kept at least some part of this cruel spirit... examples are ample...

Yes but further into his teachings he expounds on that by adding softer terms to apply to mosaic law.You should still love they neighbor, but now you should also love your enemy. So he may have not taken away per se from the laws but he made some of it null and void. Mostly the laws with regard to food and sacrifice. You no longer have to make sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin, you simply have to ask. And as far as him allowing stoning, he summed that up when he said he who is without sin shall cast the first stone. Therefore noone should ever be stoned again because we all fall short and sin.

correct, and once Christ sacrificed Himself, all things had taken place.
I'm really happy you seem to be getting the verses a little better. that is wonderful! if you read the footnotes just below verse 24, it explains it well also. if you read through 20 you'll see a little more what He meant. if you break the law and teach someone to do the ssame, you will be the least in the kingdom of heaven. we're talking the mosiac laws. however, again, they were all fulfilled when Christ became our sacrifice ont he Cross.
since you're using the Rcc version of the bible, please check with your diocese adn i'm sure they can let you know the various study groups - you would be welcome with open arms - we're always looking to share and discuss (and yes even debate) the Scripture with those looking to learn!
God bless

Hey Mr.Mojo
just looked at all your Yahoo questions -
Do you really want answers to your questions -
Sounds to me like you're trying to make God look silly -
God cannot be mocked - whatever a man sows that he will also reap. Gal 6:7
If you really want answers, the BIble says
Seek me and you will find me if you seek me with all your heart....Jer 29:13
are you really doing that?

You use passages from the bible to mock Christ, just like the devil did and the priests from the high temple did at his trial. So quit hidding behind your bogus questions{which arnt really questions but statements disguised as questions}and say wats really on ur mind.
