Long enough to really know him first. The alternative would be you being "merely another notch on his belt".

When I first met my "then boyfriend", we wound up having sex the first night...got married 8 months and 2 days later and have been married for 11 1/2 years...when the time is right, you'll know it...You'll just "feel it"...(no pun intended >:))
Some people have waited till after the wedding to have sex and were married less than six months...some people boink like crazy before getting married and their marriages last forever...can't say why that happens....
The bible states you should wait until you're married though...
But I say, do what feels right to you...Good luck hon....
Remember, the best relationships aren't based on sex....they're based on the respect and adoration the two of you have for each other.

I don't really think respect is a matter of waiting.
And there is no rule for when you should have sex.
Whenever you feel ready for it...go ahead. Could be the first the second or the twentieth date...doesn't really matter.
My boyfriend and I are together for 5 years now...and we had sex on our first date.
Also...sex is quite essential for a happy healthy relationship...so why spend your time waiting just to find out that the actual person...just sucks????

If you are a girl looking for some thing meaningful and it sounds like you are. You should wait until you and him have made a commitment. to each other. If he respect you and your feelings then he will wait.I know this may sound a little silly begin that today's world it is the norm to try it before you buy it.But time and time aging it is porn to young girls every day that this way of thinking only servers as the fastest way of getting used and your feeling hurt.Sex is made to be shared with some one you love remember that it's not something you just do to do it.

I think it really depends on the age. I had sex with my husband the first night we met and we were married over 17 years. He respected me because I took care of myself and was very good in my profession. Guys respect woman who can stand on their own feet. AND just because you give them a taste doesn't mean you need to jump every time they want it. This does change if you live together or are married as I believe you should want to keep your partner satisfied at that point in the relationship.

I think that if your after very quick to sleep with a man he will lose his respect for you. A man loves a challenge and doesn't want something like Sex to come so easily to him. I think hold out for as long as you can, make him earn the right to be with you, don't do it just cause you think it feels right, you have to know when it's the right time. If this guys really respects, loves, adores, and appreciates you, he will wait til your ready. Don't sell yourself cheap sweety, take your time.

well with today's society, most put out the first night , some after a few dates and the rare ones wait until they get married,
now it is a choice and a feeling you have when you are with this person that will let you know when the time is right

There really isn't an age or time, but waiting until after marriage is best.

Depends upon weather you believe in sex before marriage or not. If I was in your situation I would go with the flow and do what feels right. Discuss it.
