I always just open the dogs mouth with my hand on top of the nose, and my fingers around her top teeth. Talking to her and letting her know , in a soothing voice that it was for her own good. Then I throw the pill as far back in her mouth as possible, Close her mouth with my hand around her muzzle.Immediately raise her nose to the sky and stroke her throat with my other hand till she swallows.
The first pill might take a couple tries, but once the dog knows you mean business and nothing bad will happen, they will accept it. No muss no fuss.Good luck, hope your pooch feels batter.

First off choclate is toxic to dogs. Normally you put it to the back of their throatss, hold their mouth shut rub their throat to stimulate swallowing but For those difficult dogs
wrap it in a piece of ham. Throw a couple of pieces to your dog so he/she catches them. After doing this the dogs just swollows the pieces rather than chewing it waiting anxiously for the next morsel. The last has the pill, ta dah!! it swallows it whole.
Cheese or a piece of leftover works well too. Just don't do it at the dinner table or you will have another problem.

This is how my vet taught me: open his mouth, stick it way back, close his jaw and hold it closed, and put a finger on his throat. Hold it closed until you can feel that he had swallowed it. You have to do that, cause dogs can get really smart and hide the pill somewhere in his mouth and spit it later when you aren't watching. I don’t think it's a good idea to put it in food cause they'll chew it, and pills are usually made to dissolve in bowels rather than in belly. I always read the directions, so if it's ok to eat after the pill I give him a treat. He hated it at first but he learned. The treat made it all easier.

Its an art! Open the dogs mouth with thumb & indexfinger of the left hand, (if you are right-handed,) hold the capsule or tablet with thumb & index finger of right hand, place as far back on the tongue or in the mouth that you can get your fingers & poke with your index finger to push down the throat. This sounds hard but is over with in a couple of seconds when you've done it often. Good luck!!

I have a dog that does the same thing...we cannot get any antibiotic in him. Here's the thing..when you take the cap off the bottle, smell the pills...a dog's nose is much more sensitive than ours (it smells bad, doesn't it??). She is detecting that smell in the food you're trying to give her. Do NOT open the pills...get something called "Pill Pockets", you can find them in any pet store and see if she'll take it wrapped in that (it's like a beefy treat). Or wrap it in something where she won't detect the smell. I have been successful in putting pills in cream cheese (my dog prefers the garden veggie or the garlic)...the flavored cheese masks the smell of the pill.
Good luck!!! I truly sympathize with you...been there!!

Dissolve the contents of the capsule in a few drops of water,,
Get a syringe like the diabetics use for their shots. Remove the needle, fill the syringe with the liquid, open the dogs mouth, put the syringe as far back as you can, and empty the syringe... Most of the liquid will get swallowed.
It always worked fine with my dog.

NEVER, EVER GIVE A DOG CHOCOLATE!!! Especially smaller dogs...even a little amount can be fatal!

Cut the middle out of a chunk of hot dog. If all else fails, put the medicine in the dogs mouth...close his mouth and hold it closed. While doing this, blow gently on his nose. Remember though...you must do this very slowly so you don't scare him.

My dog is too much of a PITA for all those suggestions. I have to open up her mouth and shove the pill down her throat with one finger. I then have to carefully watch her to make sure she doesn't walk away from me and spit it out when I'm not looking, if I didn't manage to get it down far enough.

take the pill and open the dogs mouth with the other hand and with the fore finger take the pill and push it back to the throat so the tongue can't push it out then hold the mouth close, it usually works, you can make a hamburger ball (raw) give him two of them one without the pill and one with.

You need to open his mouth, and place it in the back of his throat. Have a treat ready for hin as soon as you remove your fingers. Do not crush it or break it apart. Some drugs need to be taken as is.
