It is true that people that have a good background one foreign language (learning tenses, genders, etc.) have a much easier time learning other, and if you start with French, learning Spanish would be a cinch (but I do not think it would impact learning German).

Choose a language you have a personal interest in and practice as much as you can - including travel abroad!

You do NOT have to learn French to learn Spanish or German. Lots of people have done it before you and learned either language very well.

People who already speak French can find learning Spanish or German easier, because there are similarities, but that's true of all languages. The more of them you learn, the easier the others become.

Learn whichever language interests you, and to heck with what other people say!

This is emphatically not true. I took French because I love the language. However, my son is taking Spanish (doing quite well) and I certainly think he has made a good choice considering the number of Spanish speakers in the US population and how it is growing. Of the three, going from easiest to learn to most difficult I would rank them Spanish, French, German.

I learned german first because I'm from germany ;o)

But i hate french as well... I had some french lessons at school, but i never listened to the teacher, so today i'm still unable to speak that language.

But we also learned spanish at school! And it was much more easier! I don't think that you need french to speak german or spanish!! I can see no reason why it should be necessary.

no that aint true. I live in germany and have learnt german without paying attention to my french lessons. Some of the words are similar, but u don't need to learn 1 to learn the other. Trust me, I started learning them both at the same time and I speak better german then french.

Not really, but any language other than your own will make you sound stupid until you feel comfortable with it.

French is a beautiful language, if you don't think so, try speaking Swedish with Å_Ö_Ä as the extra vowels in the language. After 5 years, I still can't get it right!

No, you do not HAVE to learn anything first. If you don't like the French language at all, then it would be a big mistake to try to force yourself to learn it.
You should enjoy learning a new language as much as possible for the best results.

It's not. I don't speak french (just understand it) but i speak german and spanish. Studying languages I noticed that the sound of my voice changes with the language I speak, expecially when I speak english (I'm italian).

No, but Spanish and French are very similar languages. In a way, you could say if you're learning one, you're somewhat learning the other without even realizing it.
