i.e Gourmet food for the rich and fast food for the poor? More sophisticated or just plain rubbish?

That depends.

Some rural people who are poor will eat a lot of food from their gardens, which could be better quality than some garbage rich people eat. What does Anna Nicole eat, for example?

Do the poor eat more fast food? Fast food is expensive. I think maybe more working class and middle class may, but didn't Clinton like to eat burgers?

I also saw a study that showed poor people in Phoenix, AZ sometimes will buy really good food, but will tend to throw it out. They will buy the fancier meat, fish, etc, thinking it is good, but then don't really know what to do with it. It goes to waste, and they toss it.

Immigrant communities often will eat better than many Americans; first generation tends to eat very little junk food.

Finally, I think it depends what you call god food and what you call bad. What is good? For your health? Taste? Status (i.e., Caviar?)

It may seem very obvious, but this is actually a pretty complex question.

the difference would be in the ability to purchase the food. A wealthy person can afford to eat Gourmet. The poor like the street poor eat from dumpsters. People in between these two examples eat what they can afford. Most people today must live from paycheck to paycheck. so there is a definite difference in the food that the wealthy eat verses the poor.

There is no difference, they just choose to shop differently. People with less money tend to purchase a lot of high carb foods such as pastas and potatoes for every meal avoiding the fresh fruits and vegetables. They could very easily shop better and make a gourmet meal at home, they tend to also shop for the easy way out and purchase foods that take no more than 2 steps to make.

"Poor" people don't necessarily eat fast food. Fast food is for people who are in a hurry. In my own observation, "poor" people eat nutritious foods like beans, whole grains, potatoes, fish they caught themselves, etc. These foods take some time to cook from scratch.
On the other hand, from my own observations watching cooking shows on TV, what makes food "gourmet" is that a person called a "chef" takes the same food that "poor" people make from scratch, put it on a plate in one pile, one thing on top of the other, serves it to "rich" people, and charges them $50 a portion for what it costs the "poor" people about $5 or less to prepare at home.

Of course rich people eat better food. They can afford to buy the better things. I am not rich at all and do consider myself poor money wise, but I dont go to fast food places much. I had rather take that money and buy fruit or something nutritious.

yes,the quality differs, definitely. In the world, the food that is being produced in the 3rd world countries 4/5th of them are being exported to the 1st world countries and only the remaining stale and non-nutritious are kept in there.Because by this the government gains more as if 1 apple costs Rs.10 in India,if that can be sold in America people are going to buy that with $2=Rs.90 each.Because everybody is going to leave eating apples in India if they are sold with such a huge amount!

The rich probably eat turkey which is made out of gold and when they take a bite, gold sauce oozes out and falls onto their gold shirt, which they then wipe if off with their gold serviette then takes a sip of gold wine out of their gold goblet. Then they eat gold ice cream served in a gold ceramic bowl with gold choclate sauce and a gold unbrella for decoration, eaten with a stainless gold spoon...
