I was born & grew up in Farndon (Cheshire), but went to school in Rossett (Wales) - just a mile or so appart. It really annoys me though why it seems acceptable for advertisers to make fun at Wales. (eg. pot noodle ect.,) Does this annoy anyone else?

They just reflect society generally,

I liked the one about "Come Home to a Real Fire" "Buy a Cottage in Wales" on not the nine o'clock News, many years ago where they panned a shot of a cottage burning, this was at a time when the nationalists were burning second homes because the English were taking the houses away from the Locals,
I reckon Griff Rhys Jones might have been welsh with a name like Griff.
Anyway the Welsh have a sense of humour, they need one with the unemployment, incessant rain and those awful flat Male Voice Choirs that pass for music.
I liked the bit in "Zulu" when the Welsh started singing Men of Harlech and the Zulus didn't know what to do, its hard to run carry a spear and stick your fingers in your ear all at the same time, and those Zulus are excellent musicians, they know rubbish when they hear it.

I don't know. I haven't seen any advertisments that do this. But since my friend went to live in wales and watching Glyn on Big Brother (Even though some people say it's a dumb program.' I have a new found appreciation for wales. Also the language as well. Oh the pot noodle advert I hate that advert it's dumb and I don't understand it. But it is all about sterotypes and we as individuals have to fight hard to beat them down and make people less ignorant towards others. You should write to the advertisers if you are that offended.

Don't take it so seriously! The Irish have been the butt of jokes for years but now have passed through that and developed into a very progressive country. It's simply a topical time for Wales at the moment, what with Charlotte Church and everything ..... this is merely a phase of the country standing up and being counted ..... and it is big enough to take the jokes as well. Wales is a great country ..... my mother was Welsh and a bit of my heart will always be there.

Get with the programme sunshine. I'm a Welshman and am not the least bit offended by the Pot Noodle advert or was I offended by Ann Robinsons wish to drop us into room 101 a few years ago.
It's people like you that these types of things are designed to annoy. The intelligent Welsh people just laugh along because it's not us they poke fun at, it's yawn generating, predictable knee jerkers like you.

Because the English people who are involved in making these ads obviously know that the Welsh all have a great sense of humour and humility and are able to not take themselves too seriously! If they tried this with the English, some of the sour faced gits would go wild!!

I am a from Blackpool by the way but I am not of the 'sour-faced' variety! LOL!

I'm not Welsh and I think that some of the Welsh people I've met should go back to the charm school and get their money back BUT, I think that the Charlotte Church show on Friday nights is going to alter a lot of peoples' opinions, and good luck to her. It's a long time since I've laughed out loud WITH the Welsh as opposed to AT them - and bloody good luck to her again.

Simply because the Welsh have this media image of being dumb country bumpkins. Anyone from rural areas of Britain are perceived the same.

Q: "What do you call a sheep tied to a lampost in Cardiff?"
A: "A leisure centre"

I've always been of the opinion that these ads were for a particular product. It had never even crossed my mind that they were poking fun at the Welsh, but now that you mention it.................
