Has anyone ever had finger injuries related to golf? I have recently developed trigger finger from golf where when I bend my fingers, it is difficult for it to unbend. I have to pry it open. (worse in mornings). Just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them and how do you cope with it. I read some places that surgery may even be required if it gets too serious. I know the smart thing is to stop playing, but I love golf.

You must have practiced quite hard and want to do well in golf. We want to enjoy the game, but at the same time it's better to take care of the health as well. I consulted the specialist regarding this problem before. Happened that the doctor's a golfer as well!. His recommendation:

i) Use a lighter and more forgiving shaft. I changed my Dynamic Gold to NS Pro shafts.
ii) Use a softer grip. I changed the Golf Pride Full Cord Tour to Half cord which is softer.
iii) Do not hit wedges and short irons on a hard/worn-out mat. When you hit down to get the spin, the mat don't allows you to take divot like on the fairway, it bounces back and it can hurt you.
iv) Take a rest. Take the presciption.

The problem was gone in a week. If it persisted, the doctor might have injected steroid to my hands for faster recovery.

Good luck with your game.

You may be hold the golf club way to tight. You should hold it like you would a tube of toothpaste without the top on it. You don't want the tooth paste to come out. You may need bigger grips also. You finger tips should not dig into your palm. Hold the club in you fingers not your palms

I think you can get injuries from any game, each game has its own specific injurys and fingers are often a problem in golf. Perhaps you could get some professional advice before you give up a game that you love.

I'm a right-hander, have always used an interlocking grip, and had a similar experience with my right pinkie. Ice is good and ... sorry to say, but some time off too. Mine went away but only after I stopped gripping so tightly which I believe was my problem to begin with.
