Yes very fatty, it is made with the yolk mostly...Wonton is much better for you. Oh and egg drop has a lot of sodium.

2 cans (14 1/2 ounces each) reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
2 large eggs, beaten
2 green onions, chopped (about 1/2 cup)
1/2 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
soy sauce
In a medium saucepan over high heat, bring broth and ginger to a boil. Turn heat down to a simmer and slowly pour in egg to form yellow threads.
Turn heat off and add green onions, sesame oil and soy sauce to taste. Serve immediately.

Some chinese food is, some isn't. Like for instance sweet & sour chicken is pretty fattening. Lo mein noodles isn't, egg drop soup is good, has egg in it, but might contain a lot of salt.

Egg drop soup is not mostly egg yolk.
I often make my own version by not using fatty broth.

Not if you use low fat/low sodium chicken broth; all it is is that plus an beaten egg stirred in for a minute when it just starts to boil;

seems to be anywheres between 4-6 grams fat, but it's the sodium level that's crazy. once in a while won't hurt because it tastes sooooo good.

you have to remember that if whole chickens are used for the broth then you have alot of fat. Make sure you take the fat off by refrigerating and taking the fat off the top.
