Wash it really good with hot soapy water, let it soak awhile, then run it through the dishwasher (if it is dishwasher safe) on highest temp that is safe, using a dishwasher detergent, I like the electrosol power balls, with the three in one cleaners, and that should do it. ( I always use the hot dry cycle) I use all kinds of jars, I especially love the ones that Classico Spaghetti sauce comes in, they use real mason jars, and when I do this, the smell usually goes away. The mason jars are really great for iced tea, or water or soft drinks etc.

Vinegar gets the smell out of water bottles, try it on your jar. Also course salt and ice work on coffee pot smells. Pour the salt in the jar, then add a handful of ice cubes. Close the jar and shake. Rinse and wash with warm soapy water.
