She may go off her food for a day or two until she gets used to the new surroundings, but for the most part, dogs adapt well. A reputable kennel has staff who play with the dogs and see to it that they're not just left in their pens all day. If she's like the dogs I've owned, she'll be happy to see you and won't hold a grudge.
Some things to do before you leave a dog at a kennel:
Ask to see the runs and the pens. If the owners refuse to let you see them, or if the place has a lot of dirt, feces, and urine that haven't been cleaned up -- go somewhere else. Ditto if the water dishes and food bowls aren't clean, or if there's not much water. Does the run have shade, water, and shelter?
Make sure your dog is current on its shots, including parvo and bordatella (kennel cough.) A good kennel will insist that you provide proof of immunization.
Ask questions -- lots of them. Ask how often the dogs are fed, when are they let out in their run and how often, is there someone on site or nearby to check at night, etc. If there's a dog training club in your area, call and see if someone can tell you more about the kennel you're interested in or recommend another, better one.
Once you've settled on a kennel, try not to worry about your pet. I've boarded my dogs for years, and other than an occasional bout of upset tummies, there's never been a problem.

Your dog will not forget you. If you want to give your dog some comfort, give her one of your shirts (unwashed, so it will have your scent) that you wore recently, to keep with her. Choose a kennel where she will be played with and shown attention and be well-cared-for, and try to explain it to her. Some dogs seem to understand almost everything people say, and it can't hurt; hearing your voice, whether she understands or not, as you pet her and hold her, will help her understand that you are expressing your care for her. Then when she sees you come back for her, she will be very happy to see you again. Dogs are very loving, loyal, faithful and forgiving. There has to be a first time for the kennel, and then she'll know you're coming back for her the next time. Try taking her there a few times in advance so she can get the 'feel' of the place. Leave the room for a few minutes and come back, and she'll see you are coming back each time. Good luck.
One more thought - if possible, you may want to try leaving your pet with a truly trustworthy friend, or have them go to your house to care for your dog. If they go to your house, and your dog gets to stay home, it would be less stressful since your pet would be in familiar surroundings, as long as your friend will spend time with your pet and go there often enough to care for her. If you do use the kennel, make sure she is up to date on all her shots, and make sure you check out the kennel throughly, first.

Even if you leave your dog in a kennel, see if you can find someone who will come and get your dog for an hour a day or even longer. Someone who will give more attention to your dog, then what a kennel can. There are a lot of really good kennels out there, gets references and check them out. Or look online for dog sitters in your area, ones that only take in a certain amount of dogs in their home. Just ask around, you will find someone who knows a good place.

Not all kennels are bad that is an exageration. We have left our dogs in kennels 3 or 4 times and they have always been perfectly fine. They don't hate us when we go and get them. They are always really excited to see you and ours behave exactly the same as they did before going in.
I would say use a kennel that is recommended to you by a friend or family or one you've been to check out thoroughly just to be sure you're happy.
Also it is a good idea to get your dog a kennel cough shot before she goes if she isn't up to date on that.
They adjust very quickly to new surroundings. She'll be fine!

Dogs have good memories. She will not hate you when you come back. She will likely be excited to see you.
My husband and I had to leave our puppy and one year old dogs with a neighbor for five days. They were just fine. The neighbor was able to control them and she said they did well. They were in her backyard the whole time. Normally they are house dogs with us and we spoil the heck out of them. I was worried when we dropped them off because the little one was making all kinds of noise and tried to get out of the yard. When we came back, they were a bit unruly but soon adjusted back to the way they were before we left.
Have a good time and don't worry about her - she's a dog. :)

Let me tell you what happened with us many years ago.. After leaving our Scottie in a kennel, and after seeing what the kennel looked like such as cleanliness and such, we came back home, brought the Scottie home SICK! The poor dog had gotten parvo and he had his parvo shot. The dog was fine before we dropped him off but he died about a week later. I will never ever leave any of my pets in a kennel again unless it's at a vet.

the first time we left our dog alone, she was 6 months old, we were going on vacation and she had to get neutered anyway so since the vet also did boarding, he performed the operation and she stayed there for 10 days. When we came back to pick her up the moment she saw us, her tail curled up in between her legs and she wouldn't look at us - it was the saddest sight ever :( but we took her home and she forgot about the whole things in less than 24 hours, she was back to her affectionate loveable self.
