It's produce/vegation that is grown without the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides or insecticides. It cannot be genetically modified (GMO) in any artificial way. It's common practice these days to genetically engineer foods with the pest chemicals integrated right into the plant itself's makeup. It's scary cause every they have to use newer and more potent chemicals because the pests develope immunities to it over the years. The average child receives more pesticide intake in their diet than the FDA says is safe for a human in their entire life. And organic produce usually contains far more nutrients than generic stuff from the grocery store. Organic farmers are usually very dedicated to bringing you the best product and go to great lengths to ensure their product is grown in the best possible way with whatever alternative natural methods they are using. So, is it worth the few extra bucks at the grocery store for organic food? I think so... ;)
