Ooo, ooo, I know! I'm glad I saw this post. Please call Edgepark Sugerical @ 1-800-321-0591. You can also find them at www.edgepark.com. I was having a heck of a time with my insurance company covering supplies and when I heard about this company (from a diabetic wesite message board) I thought I would give it a try. I called and just gave them my insurance information and they said not to worry about it they would handle everything. A week later I got 3 months supply of lancets, strips and even control solution...with NO DEDUCTABLE, not even shipping cost. This place as been a blessing to me. Maybe they can help you too.
Good luck!

First step you should take is to contact the manufacturer of your meds & test strips almost all of them offer a discount plan for lower income and/or no insurance patients....I use NovoDisk Novolog & their program offers you a 3 month supply of insulin for FREE, all you have to do is contact them for the application return the app w a Rx from your doctor stating how much insulin you use & they send it to you Dr & you just pick it up from there. As far as test strips go Im not too sure on that asz Ive never found any help w those & those suckers are expensive, if I were you Id look into a glucometer that uses cheaper strips, you can compare prices at your pharmacy & go from there. Im sorry to hear your situation, I know how hard it is, Ive been diabetic for 19 years & have had to pay out of pocket sor my supplies MANY TIMES when I was w/out insurance. As far as syringes go I know for a fact that you can get abox of 100 at WalMart(the off brand, just as good as BD) for about $15.00 a box, and thats pretty affordable. Also you should be able to at least get syringes thru your health dpmnt, I mean they give em out to junkies I see no reason why they shouldnt supply them to people who NEED them, and I would bring thisup when you talk to them. BEST OF LUCK I hope you find some help. If you would like to chat about your concerns or questions as to the whole new diabetic thing feel free to contact me I'll help you out any way I can.

Here are some ways to cheat, some are a little risky.
Reuse the needles, I do 5 shots a day, I can use the same needle for weeks, it won't kill you.
Every time I see my endocrinologist, (you should also),
he gives me insulin samples that the drug company gives him, so every time i see doctor I pay about 80-100, but he gives me about 150 dollars worth of insulin.
You can buy test strips on ebay. Now these might be the ones people steal, who knows where they come from, but are available.
Stockpile this stuff, any time you get needles, medication, test strips for cheap or free or through your insurance get as much as you can. Some ins companies provide supplies in 3 month or 1 month amounts. Have your doctor write prescription for 6 tests a day, test 4 a day b4 you know it you have a pile of these test strips.

Contact CCS Medical (www.ccsmed.com) at 1 800 726 9811. Ask them to contact your medical insurer and determine if you are eligible for low-cost diabetes supplies. This is where I am getting my supplies, and I didn't know about this company until my primary care physician contacted them. Your dr may need to contact them first, so ask him/her to do so.

Forget anything you have ever been told about Diabetes.
And get this - it has nothing to do with insulin, exercise, diet or anything else you've heard in the past. It's all based on latest breakthrough research that Big Pharma is going Stir Crazy to hide from you.
