Not in the US. You can't force someone to have an HIV test. The doc should offer HIV testing, but if you decline, that's your right. If you agree to testing, you're only tested once.

Every state has different protocols when it comes to testing a pregnant woman and her baby. Your best bet would be to ask your doctor if he/she routinely checks for HIV when a woman is pregnant and if so, exactly when are these tests performed.
For mothers that suspect that they or their partner may have HIV, it's important to let your doctor know immediately so that testing can be done and you and your baby can begin treatment if necessary. The baby doesn't always get HIV from the mother, but if it does, treatment can sometimes eradicate HIV from the baby if given early enough.

I know TX required an HIV test as soon as a pos. pregnancy was reported. Perhaps that has changed but it was true 6 yrs ago.

I have 3 kids and yes i do remember getting tested when i had all my blood work done so my answers is yes. I live in TX. though It may depend on where u live .

you have to request a hiv test if you want one, pregnant or not. usually they only do one once every six months or so.

yeah they test you for it in the 1st trimester and you have to sign a form.
