Thank you to all the volunteers from all over the United States who are helping us recover from Hurricane Katrina. We ourselves on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, with the loving help of total strangers are almost back. We could not of made it without your help! Many of our neighbors though are still living in FEMA camping trailers near concrete slabs that once were their homes, one year after the storm!

Volunteers from all over our United States have helped us, taking vacation from work, students used their vacations from school to help. It has been a wonderful experience to see people of all Races and States working together as one team.

Again if you have helped in any way thank you! If you can help check around with your church groups they are the real leaders down here.

THANK YOU
A. P. Shoemaker

I am among one of the fortunate ones in that I live in Gautier Mississippi on higher ground, on the Gulf, where though extensively damaged, was not totally demolished as the beach front homes in Pascagoula, Gautier, Ocean Springs, Biloxi, Gulfport, Long Beach, Pass Christian, Waveland, and all the Mississippi communities Westward.

While New Orleans has received all the national Media attention from flooding, they are actually below sea level in many areas and on routine rains must pump out the water! Along the Miss. coastal areas, my home is 21 feet above sea level and received a foot and a half of water but the other areas to the west of me got a 35 foot surge that demolished everything!
New Orleans was a tragedy, we are not in competion, but it was simply flooded, it received little wind damage period! The people of Mississippi's homes far inland were blown away, and they too, like the coast are living in FEMA camper trailers, or have moved into family or friends homes.

For any of you Katrina, Rita or Wilma victims who are struggling with your insurance claims getting settled with those bastard insurance companies, let me tell you the smartest thing you can do: Call a public adjuster to handle your claims! I've heard of hundreds of Katrina victims whose claims were denied by their insurance companies, and it's just beyond me that those companies can or would do that.

I've also heard that many thousands more Katrina victims were only offered, like, $40,000 for their life's belongings.

I live in Florida and there's a company here who handles this stuff all the time. They are one of the top public adjusters in the country, and they will travel anywhere to help the victim, and not the insurance company. Even if you were forced to settle for extreme need, call them; they can usuallly even help you then. They sure helped us!

God bless you folks who are still trying to get your lives back together again; you are always in our prayers!

If you are sincere about expressing you gratitude then you should do so to the government offices and private agencies that helped you.

Using this forum only gets you to a small number of people, most of whom already have an agenda that does not include your problem. Most want only to vent their imagined anger at their government. Read some of the questions and answers and you will see that you are talking to no one when you write here.

We weren't prepared when Rita wiped us out, though.

Folks like us..You & I.... are building truckloads of character!
