Not a death sentence, can't be too serious or they wouldn't have sent you home. They usually admit possible TB.

First of all...calm down and take a deep breath. Next, think very carefully about what the doctor told you.

Did he say you had a positive TB test (which means you've been exposed to someone who has TB) or did he make the actual diagnosis of Tuberculosis?

When you've been exposed to TB the doctor will order a chest x-ray. If the film is negative thats great news however you will still need to take some medication. If the xray is positive that means you definitely have Tuberculosis and means you will need to take a different kind of medication.

Before you let your thoughts get out of control patiently wait for the doctor to make his final diagnosis.

I first want to say that I have NO MEDICAL BACKGROUND this is only my Opinion from what me ex-husband says about it. (he is a paramedic) TB--Tuburculosis (pardon the spelling) Is highly contagious when it is active. It can prevent you from having a job in the medical field. It also has an in-active capability. When it is active you need to stay away from others to avoid spreading this illness. I am not 100% sure how much of a risk there is when it is inactive but I know ACTIVE TB is easily spread. If memory serves me it is an airborne illness. When in active I think that you are fine and not able to pass it. Again you will need to speak with a physican on all of that once you know for certain. Good luck hun

Most likely not. It's rare nowadays except with AIDS patients. You have a long run with some antibiotics, usually 3-6 months. Make sure you take them. I'm surprised ED sent you home. Usually we keep someone in respiratory isolation until the tests come back and/or the person is no longer contagious. Doc Holliday lived with it untreated years before he died. Back then they didn't have treatments. Also, if they put you on rifampin, don't drink alcohol. It could make you very sick!

Not a death sentence normally but depends on which stage it's in. My colleague had it and didn't know it until he went in for an immigration medical exam. He was walking around with it for 2 years. He was diagnosed and had to take lots and lots of antibiotics. I've talked with him, gone out for drinks with him and once on antibiotics he's not contagious anymore. Xray will confirm the degree of infection.

No it is not a death sentence, wait untill it is confirmed and then if it is they have medicine that will hit it , it's not like it used to be. In the meantime, rest,. drink fluids, take Ester-C vitamin with vitamin E 400mg. If its not TB this will help you anyway.

It is if it goes untreated and it is if you've passed it on to others who may not catch it in time.

In this day and age, there are treatments and I'm sure the doctor has reassured you tht with treatment you will recover. The days of Doc Holliday are gone. Go to the doctor and get the proper meds ASAP.

No Way! Calm Down a little bit and get a second opinion. If you have it it still isnt a death sentence.

Some forms of TB are drug resistant now. If you have drug resistant TB... it could be fatal.

One problem with illegal immigration is that people are not receiving medical screenings and are handling our food.
