Tradition. Double-standard.

Men were expected to sow their wild oats. Women were expected to stay pure until married, and then faithful forever after.

Of course, if all the women had done that, there wouldn't be any for the men to sow their wild oats with.

Fortunately, the tide seems to be turning a bit, at least from my admittedly narrow perspective.

Its all historical relating back to women supposing to be virgins when they marry. Also because of the male/female configuration, a woman is being penetrated whereas a man is the penetrator so therefore people believe women should hold themselves to a higher standard and not just allow anyone "in". I don't see anything wrong with a high sex drive in a female but its more prudent to stick to one or fewer partners.

Healthwise women really shouldn't sleep around because the more sex partners you have the more likely you are to be at risk for cervical cancer. Nowadays the risks involved with casual sex are too high. Condoms are no guarantee against stds, pregnancy or hiv/aids. What happens if it breaks??

in more puritanistic times people got married forever. they believed they would forfeit their souls if they got divorced. sex was not supposed to be enjoyable. it was mostly for the purpose of procreation. often women bore many children (keep 'em barefoot and pregnant). they truly worked hard to keep the house and tend to the children. there was no method of birth control except abstinence. when women "lost" interest in sex their husbands went to whores to satisfy their lustful desires. their wives not only accepted this but welcomed the stay from their wifely duties.
the male of most spices evolved with the natural desire to copulate with as many females as possible to insure the survival of his genes. men were supposed to be the protectors and the providers. women were supposed to be the Virgin Mary.
in today's society women who sleep around are called whores by the women of the men they sleep with and the men they don't. and for some reason men who act sexually irresponsible are still hailed as the conquering heroes. not right, just the way it is.

its just a double standard, and think of it this way, guys that sleep around can be called sluts and man whores and not have a problem with it, but some women are not ready to take on that title.

It's some kind of macho thing. They conquer and the result is the woman is to easy and they are the big winner. Guys that talk like this have very little self respect anyway, so I would not give them much attention.. JMHO GaryT

Because we live in a single minded patriarchy, which is based on the roles of men being the 'hunter gatherer' and women being the 'nurturer/caregiver'.
It'll be another couple of hundred years before everyone comes around entirely, get used to it.

I have wondered this myself on many occasions. Just like a woman who stands up for herself is called a *****. There is definitely a different standard for men than women.

the whores should confront "THE MAN" and say, "if it wasn't for whores like me, you wouldn't have a job bein the MAN

just kidding! don't say that lol

It's because jerks love to have their egos stroked and throw their weight around. plain and simple.

Does this mean then that I'm a Man Whore for f.u.c.k.i.n.g. around with other men? After all, I'm a man....but since I'm the one getting f.u.c.k.e.d, does that also make me a whore?
