For starters, don't go completely on what your friends say. It's YOUR potential relationship, not theirs. I'm not saying it's bad to get their imput on the situation, but don't go completely on what they're saying. I personally would wait until you're almost entirely sure that he likes you, but you might feel differently.

Anyway, this guy is shy. You're not likely to have him walk up to you and say that he likes you and wants to ask you out. Besides, it's hard to ask people out. Which is what you're probably going to have to do if you want to see this relationship go anywhere. If you want to take my advice and be sure that he likes you, see how he acts around you. Are you the one that goes up to him to talk all the time or does he feel comfortable approaching you? You said that you talk on the phone too. Are you the one that calls him or does he call you? Also, does he seem genuinely interested in the conversation or does he always want to end it? Remember that he is shy. Even if he doesn't go up to you to talk that much, it could just be in his nature. If it seems to you that he enjoys spending time with you and talking to you, then I would go for it.

When you ask him out, don't say, "So, want to go out sometime?" This is a bad, bad, bad, BAD question. If you say that to someone, they have no option but to say "Sure" or "Sorry, I don't like you that way". If it turns out that he doesn't like you, then you'll have to hear it exactly like that. Instead, ask him "Want to see a movie tomorrow night?" This way he can either say "Sure" or "Sorry, I'm busy tomorrow night". Not only is this easier on you, but he won't feel nearly as bad saying it if he made that up as an excuse. If he does like you, he might say "Sorry, I'm busy tomorrow night, but I'm free all weekend". This shows you that he really is busy, but likes you enough to want to go out with you another time instead. However, don't think that just because he said he was busy that night doesn't mean he doesn't like you. Try again sometime. If you ask him to places again and again and he gives you that same answer again and again, you've got your answer as to whether he likes you or not.

Oh, and if he didn't like you as at least a friend, then he would have shook you off way before four months went by.

Good luck!

Just ask him out. If he is shy like you said then perhaps he is afraid you will say no and he can't handle the rejection. Just ask him if he would like to go see a movie or something with you. Start small and go from there.

I believe the only relationships that really work are the ones where the girl picks the man. Note!!! I didnt say to sleep with him on the first date! Good luck!

LoL..that is true advice, for someone who is a typical guy. if he really liked u, he would've done something about it. however, u said he is really shy. and the same advice goes for You: if u really like him, u would ask him out! if not u'd let it go...

here's what happened to me.. i was introduced to a guy thru a friend, and we went out to dinner. it wasn't a date, but it wasn't "not" a date...it was to see how we get along, and see where it would go. So, he had the chance to get to know me, and see if he liked me, and ask me out, or just be friends. that is the typical way a relationship works...it's the guy's duty right? ;). however, after the 2nd time we hung out, i gave him a hug goodnight, and later he told me he liked me as a FRIEND. so ever since then, i never gave him a second thought! we hung out all the time, talked a lot, and i thought of him as a best guy friend. a year and a half later, he blurts out that the WHOLE time he liked me! and i was shocked...because i had no idea. and i had no feelings towards him that way. especially after knowing him for 1 1/2 years!!

i told him, if i liked you, I would've said it a LONG time ago. so, sometimes girls do have to be the agressor in the beginning...if the guy is so shy like this!

so u have to decide wehter or not u like him enough. do u want to try a relationship w/ him? then theres' nothing wrong w/ asking him out.. just make sure u encourage him to be more "aggressive" as u continue going out, if u like guys who know what they want and go for it (i know that's what i like!).

another story: my first boyfriend... we hung out a lot at the dorms in college, and he wrote me poems...and i started liking him... but he didnt' ask me out! so finally i wrote him a letter, and i said i liked him!! and then he called me and asked me to be his girlfriend. so he needed that reassurance that i liked him back. so ur little drawing reminds me of the little poems my 1st bf gave me.

LONG story short, theres' nothing wrong w/ asking the guy out. u gave him a chance to..and he 's too shy. someone has to ask someone out!! do it!! just remember he needs a push, and to encourage him to become more outgoing and go for what he wants..as his girlfriend, u want to support and encourage positive, healthy behavior from him! :)

Make it look like you are just going to hang out. say like"hey lets go hang out at the mall together" or something of the like and just don't tell nobody and maybe he won't and then you two are alone. Then if he show's up go to a movie or something, but if he brings friends it just means he's really not interested.

Ask him how he feels about dating, and maybe he'll get the picture.

I myself would feel akward if a girl asked me out, not to be sexist, but thats just how I am I guess...

Go head and ask him out, but be prepared if he decides not to have anything to do with you afterward.
